  • So I got the 200GB HDD version with 4GB ram and 4 cores provisioned some minutes ago.

Hopefully AES might be enabled later on (the E5s do support it). VT-x would be nice too :D
    Anyway see the results below.

I must say, I am quite surprised by the spindles speed (could be cached?) and the network performance... That one does look quite good to everywhere in the world, however the spindels might get slower if everyone got their services up and running.
Suprisingly, the cpu performance is a big downer. I would not have guessed that. I do believe there might have been a problem while running the test.. For 4 cores this is unacceptable, I am going to try this one later on.

I think that was a typo for “spinners”.

He is referring to the I/O performance (spinning hard drives have magnetic plates rotating around a spindle).

I currently do have an open ticket, I might as well use the chance. Thanks for your response! I appreciate it

  • There is 50% Credit Bonus in email cociu sent

The second offer is an offer we've done in the past which allows us to invest on further massive hardware acquisitions:
Until 11:59PM - 26.06.2020, any credit you top-up in our Add Funds page (at https://secure.hostsolutions.ro/clientarea.php?action=addfunds) which can be used to purchase new services or renew existing services, will receive an additional 50%, up to 500€.
Let's assume you top-up 100€, our Billing Department will then add an extra 50% which would make it 150€. Irresistible, huh? Act fast!

That seems normal for spinners. The 4/64K numbers are fairly low and not SSD. This is a big ass 14 drive RAID, I believe.

I wonder if a multicore score the same as single core that the box is so CPU over subscribed, it can't even schedule more CPU for the 4 core VPS as a single core VPS.

  • kkiskkkkiskk Member

hopefully I could get my VPS today, will send a bench result after I received

  • @TimboJones said: That seems normal for spinners

Yes definitely. I am positively surprised by the current disk performance. Hope it stays somewhere in that area ;)

The CPU is definitely something strange. However, on the CPU graphs in the client area I see that the CPU usage does not surpass 25%.. It looks like only one core is used.. This could then also explain why the single core performance is the same as the multicore performance

Using htop though, 4 cores are maxed out while running the geekbench test

  • FalzoFalzo Member

@Pilzbaum said: The CPU is definitely something strange.

na it's not. 200 packages of 200GB result in 40TB of diskspace which is a good match to a 14 disk raid-10 array of let's say 8TB disks, even including hot spare.

so - it's obviously just a single node.

4core and 4GB then equal 800 cores and 800GB RAM, needless to say that this needs heavy sharing. I guess with two or even four CPUs for real it's more like ~60 cores available in the node maybe? hence the restriction to 25%... that's simply how you oversell and as long as the artificial limits keep everything balanced - might work.

if every second guest starts running torrent though... you get what you pay for, so keep your expectations at a proper level ;-)

not make numbers for me please .. i do myself. Post your personal opinion is something ... but is not the real in this case. This is kvm not ovz so oversell is less and i can assure you is not only one node.

well then it's two nodes or whatever, obviously this can scale up and down but it always comes down to the diskspace being the last thing to oversell. you were the one talking about 14 disk array, so that's that. I am sure you are smart enough to probably handle RAM with NVMe and such well known things, still CPU is going to be the hardest thing to balance.

feel free to post the real specs you run this on. ideally passthrough the real CPU to your guest, so they can see what is powering them maybe?

and frankly I did not even say, that overselling is a bad thing. just the opposite. if it's done right, then fair enough. I simply told people to get their expectations under control ;-)

can someone post another cpu benchmark for the 4 core 4 gb ?

Afraid it's not worth their time and effort when likelihood is they won't be satisfied.

A geekbench score of 208 would be far lower than any server I have with one core and it didn't increase over the one core score. That's a major red flag.

does that mean in 5 days you will give back our money no questions asked?

Even when I use the server already for bandwidth and cpu intensive tasks?

For 4 cpu core, geek bench of 200 score is far lower than my other 1 cpu core vps. I don't want to spend few days of work to setup my apps just to find out the obvious problem is the cpu too weak.

What's wrong with asking for benchmark from another person?

As I said, I want to make educated choice by asking if anyone who bought it can share benchmark. If the benchmark value for CPU is similar, then maybe I will not buy, but if it shows better value then I will consider.
