No swap as it will degrade disk IO performance.
You are welcome to add more ram it’s pretty cheap :)

    Hi :)
The TOS says: "Web Hosting accounts are not to be used for file hosting." To be clear: is this allowed on the VPS? My plan is to mirror a large file (nothing illegal).

Yes, that is fine on VPS's.

The place is tough action. If your node goes down they offer "no support" but if you try to re-boot or re-install in the panel the panel will just spin and spin and spin whereas all other functionality in the panel works - just anything to do with managing the dead node does not.

Obviously, support doesn't work either, nor do updates as to why the node might be down.

I get the no support thing but when your nodes are borked either fix it, provide an update or fix your control panel to allow you to try and reboot, or something.

    Advise all the tread carefully

If this is in regard to NY-VZ1 having issues lately, I will be sending an email out with more information.
Even though there is no support, I do answer all tickets. I do have a job in the real world so answering tickets may get pushed back on certain days.
If there are any outages, I post them on Twitter, https://twitter.com/GulloStatus If I already posted to Twitter about an outage then please don't send me a ticket about your server being offline because guess what, I already know :)
Most of the time outages are out of my control and I have to wait for DC to fix their issue. This is the same situation that NY-VZ1 is in right now.

I appreciate your patience but please, please, please, have a little more.

    Cam

  • Your customers aren't mind readers. I saw no notice in the panel (I see it now - wasn't there when my node was unreachable).

So if there is no note about an outage, how are we to assume you know about it? How are we supposed to infer it's not something specific to 1 customer?

I understand your upset, You have every right to be, Your server was down for a couple of days.
I did give notice about the outage, I am probably the most transparent provider that you are going to find. I sent out a total of 8 tweets regarding the NY-VZ1 outages between November 3 and 13th

If you are ever in doubt that your VM is offline and it's not a node wide issue, definitely open a ticket.
The issue arises when a customer sends me 2 emails, 3 tickets, and 5 contact form submissions (Not saying it's you) all about the outage that was already posted to twitter.

You have definitely given me some things to think about and some improvements that can be made, So, Thank you for that. I will come up with an easier way to get information about outages.

  • Are there any plans to provide an image to be able to install Ubuntu 20.04 LTS?
