Free server monitoring software
Do you know any free server monitoring software?
I wanted to track the CPU, ram, network, disk and other resource usage of my server. Not only the real time usage but also its past usage like week/month historical data.
I tried cockpit but it's only showing real time data by the time I logged in to its web interface.

Try Nagios or Zabbix
+1 for Zabbix
If you dont mind non self-hosted, HetrixTools is fantastic (free for first 15)
HetrixTools is great!
Checking on it.
I prefer self-hosted, but I will also check your suggestion.
HetrixTools is prem!
I have Zabbix. It needed some time to make it running...
Munin is good too. Simple to use
If you want live data, I use NetData, I love it.
See how it looks like:
https://live.freedif.org/
Thanks for this, I was searching for something similar.
You can also try https://www.observium.org/
Been using Nixstats for years and Vincent is very responsive if you need personal help.
Netdata for single server.
Librenms can do servers too.
Munin takes a LOT of resources if you have many servers to track.
Netdata will play nicely with Prometheus and Grafana if you want less detailed metrics over a longer period.
Won't have the same resolution as the live stuff (Unless you really want to eat storage) but more detailed than zabbix.etc
You can also have it send to influxDB if you prefer that to Prometheus
I used to use observium.. but now I switched to https://www.librenms.org/ which is a fork of observium. Its been great so far. I have the alerts pushed to my LINE account. Very handy for me.
oh a warning on librenms tho, i've been having maddening issues with it on certain switch models - it keeps going back to "generic" and failing to gather any data.
+1 Zabbix, however a bit difficult to use.
+1 for LibreNMS
I highly recommend Check_MK, it's based on Nagios and is really powerful.
Node query if only Linux servers.
Depends on how many you want to monitor, and what you want to monitor.
Hetrixtools have free plan with 15 monitors. Zabbix and other self-hosted are good but there's a learning curve and how many monitoring servers you need? So if you also consider the cost, you should compare whether it is cheaper for self-hosted or saas.
Cacti is another
Sure.
nodequery[dot]com is exactly solution you need.
Free, simple up to 10 Linux nodes.
