  • You're part of their marketing team or why blasting their offer in so many threads (teaser, this etc.)?

@ympker is a fan and a follower of some good providers, and PHP_Friends happens to be one of them. So also VPN clients, shared hosting reccos and cloud storage. Do not let the Lone wolf avatar distract you, he does indeed hunt for good deals, but also shares.
As for the other part of the Question- yes, the number of posts could be toned down. But the festivities have begun early on Friday, some things will certainly get repeated.

  • Hi, I'm guessing for the price these aren't dedicated cores right?

It's all for the fun, mate. Some X-MAS/Deal spirit :D Anyway, pretty much what @vyas11 said. I like PHPFriends and their offers after I came to dislike Netcup which has been one of my go-to providers in Germany aside from Contabo and Hetzner before. I am not affiliated with PHPFriends in any marketing way or whatever. I also frequently post about VPN, cloud storage, lifetime deals and shared hosting.

Anyone running KVM IPv6 only VPS on a PHPF server?

  • No benchmarks, but the value based on assessment of specs is pretty good: https://lowendboxes.review/php-friends-winterspecial-vserver-ssd-2019/

This is a quite future-proof VPS with that RAM and storage.

I bought this - only catch I could find is payment is per 3 month period - not monthly...

Also not sure if this gets provisioned automatically / immediately?

I paid and got a crm login, but no login to Solus and the same creds don't work...

  • Anyone running Plex on these vservers? Assuming it's fine as these cores are dedicated?

  • jeromeza said: Assuming it's fine as these cores are dedicated?

    they aren't dedicated

  • The Network, Storage space and RAM are excellent for the price. However, the processor kind of sucks @2.10GHz, as their older offerings have had better clock speed of at-least 2.60GHz in the past.

TL;DR- @seriesn has raised the bar with his ryzen offerings.

You're part of their marketing team or why blasting their offer in so many threads (teaser, this etc.)?

We are five people (+1 tax consultant who does all of our accounting), we don't have a marketing team :D Just a few nerds with passion for great hosting.

    Best Regards,

But you have @Ympker, similiar to Netcup having @Falzo, which basically comes quite close to having a marketing team. :D

SSD is great, but dudes need to do better than a 2620v2.

We'll be okay with downtime while you upgrade the processor, unless you can migrate the nodes temporarily during the process.

You may have to wait a bit:

Aufgrund großer Nachfrage erfolgt die Einrichtung spätestens am 24.12. (Heiligabend).

"Due to high demand, provisioning will be done by Dec. 24th at the latest (Christmas eve)."

    (From https://php-friends.de/vserver-ssd/vserver-winterspecial-2019-ssd )

According to their Twitter, they're sold out at the moment but expect more equipment to be delivered on Dec. 24th. See:

That's right, our resources have never been sold out that fast before, but new hardware has been ordered and will arrive in two days.

  • I was surpriced this offer had a very old CPU.

I also have a NVMe server which is very fast. The only complain about your services is the lack of english communications, i.e. email notifications, website etc... The crm website could use some work as well, no option to cancel services for example.

  • My view is that the CPU is old, but has anyone had their websites bottlenecked because of this? I don't think so. It is a stable solid perfomer for most tasks and if you are running many applications at one go, this is an excellent box in terms of RAM and storage at that price. A more modern CPU with that RAM and storage will easily cost double. Something had to give to get such a price point, and I think the tradeoff is acceptable for most use cases.

However, if you want really modern and fast CPUs, that will come at a cost, such as @seriesn and @Delong's Ryzens (although some people claim they are supposedly inferior consumer grade CPUs lmao).

Score is low? Wait till you try a virmach.

Still for 160GB SSD , too much ram and a prem network its quite a steal

I use Google translate to understand what the message says. In fact tried German to my native Marathi the other day assuming I do not know English either.

In my limited support requests have raised a ticket in English and got a response in English. Do not see communication as a challenge. They do have a commitment period, so you can always raise a ticket in advance- I believe 3 months should be adequate.

Have you tried installing using the standard templates (I used Debian and Ubuntu) and watching the updates in noVNC? That is the part where I would miss not knowing the language.
