@ninzo59 thanks for BF-3.. Now with NVMe except less RAM.

How to change NVMe? there's no option to change in order page.

    No NVMe..

@ninzo59 On the ovh.ie website the Infra is still showing as no setup fee for monthly payments but on the order page you slap on the setup fee. This BF is such a shitshow tbh.. no mention of limited stock, still showing as no setup fee while there is one...

it's your cache, if you reset it you won't see it.

Apologies on that topic. Quantities were very limited and we have had a lot of success on that range.

You gotta fix that description in https://www.ovh.ie/black-friday/

  • @ninzo59 I noticed that the renewal order of Rise-BF-1 mentioned about "applicable for 12 times".

Could you explain what is that?

    Thanks.

  • @ninzo59 any chance of more Rise-BF-1 w/ SSD being added? Last one sold out while I was checking out my order. Thanks

After thinking few days and no better offers from my shortlisted providers for this BF, decided to give a chance for Rise-BF-2 (RBX). CPU is delivered with E5-1650 v4 and both Intel S4510 SSDs are just 6 hours old.

Here's Some bench on RAID 0

I/O doesn't seems top niche so far compared to other SSDs
Outgoing network is limited at 500 Mbps, no doubts on that. But I am hoping that would change in next year or may be not.

Rise-BF-1 / 2 Sold out. Rise BF 3 still remains.

  • BF-3 isn't attractive at all. Most will jump if that comes with 32GB and 2x480gb NVMe.

No recurring, first payment on 12/24 months

Are you sure about that? In terms and conditions:

    • it doesn't say on first month of 12/24 month commit only
    • it doesn't say on first payment only
    • it doesn't say discount is valid for 12/24 months upfront payment only

But when ordering the server it does show this https://i.imgur.com/RQnNIXv.png

And it says I save 30% PER month for the term of engagement. And I can save even extra if I pay upfront.

So on ADV-STOR-2 with 4x14TB Upgrade, if I sign up with 12 month commit but pay monthly, I will only get 30% off the first month, and the rest of the 11 months will be at the standard discount of 5% off ?

  • ninzo59ninzo59 Member, Host Rep

It's 12 / 24 months commitment whatever you are paying monthly or upfront (one shot). Valid for the contract's duration.

Ok so 12 month contract, monthly payment with 30% off for the first 12 months. And after that standard discount?

Was confused because in the first post you said "No recurring, first payment on 12/24 months"

Disappointed that I couldn't get the SSD VPS 3 in Singapore from the UK despite trying many times since this time yesterday - on the page where you selected the contract period, it showed the reduced price at the top, but not at the bottom, once logged in. Tweeted to your _en support, no response. (Would've posted here earlier, too, but the account verification email wouldn't come through until just now. 😿)

Fortunately my ADV-STOR-1 order 117051482 went through, just waiting ten days for delivery - which is fine, I have other things to set up. Nice balance with not-too-big NVMe, the sort I wish our host in the Netherlands had.

Aha. Figured it out, there were six orders hanging around in my order list from the times I'd visited the second-to-last bit of the order workflow; the earliest one had the discount.

Don't know why it didn't keep them around or restore them while I was in the order workflow (or why the My Orders link isn't in the Manager menu where it should be), but it looks like I can just pay the earliest and let the others expire.

  • I decided to try out and put up some money for Public cloud ovhworld, but the amount is not double yet. Any one got the same situation?

I'm angry about false advertising by ovh.

Documentation says reverse DNS is supported for virtual servers on ovhcloud: https://support.us.ovhcloud.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002181530-How-to-Configure-Reverse-DNS

Support said the feature is available. Control Panel also has the option to set up reverse DNS on IP4 and IP6 addresses, as documented, but kept giving me a generic error message.

After 2 weeks of back-and-forth with escalating a support ticket, OVH now tells me that reverse DNS is not supported on the lowest-priced virtual server. I would have had to sign-up for a higher tier to get this feature, but I already paid a full year on the low plan, so I'm stuck paying for a VPS that I cannot use for what I intended (for smtp mail relay).

Had they published this limitation or if ovh support was aware of this, I would have signed-up for a higher tier during the black friday sale.

Is yours the OVHCloud US VPS BF deal?

  • I can confirm that it does work for at least the VPS 2018 SSD 3 in Singapore, and VPS 2018 Discovery SSD 1 in Australia for both IPv4 and IPv6. I set the DNS to resolve to the address before trying to set up the reverse DNS

I did not buy a SSD 1 this round so I don't know if there is a new limitation on them, but it might be worth checking you can resolve the DNS name to the address globally first.

Yes, the DNS forward resolves to the IP. The issue was not technical, was a limitation put on the VPS1 or "Best Value" in US, according to a support technician who ultimately responded with an answer after weeks of back-and-forth.

    Correct.

I should add, their technician did say this feature may be implemented sometime in the future, but at this time, it's not supported in the US.

Even though they have docs saying it is supported in the US: https://support.us.ovhcloud.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002181530-How-to-Configure-Reverse-DNS

Maybe @OVHcloud_james can shed some light on this?
