DirectAdmin Backup & Restore Plugin

Mahfuz_SS_EHLMahfuz_SS_EHL Host Rep, Veteran

Hi,

Is there any Good backup-restore system for DirectAdmin from where end-users can restore their backups (e.g. filesm databases, emails etc.). In cPanel, we used to use Restore Manager, Jetbackup etc. I have found some of the system but can't make sure which one is more worthy.

  1. http://directadminbackup.com/

  2. http://dabackup.com/

  3. https://www.modmaster.pro/directadmin-backup-manager-lite

To me, it seemed that ModMaster's plugin is most developed & has all the required features. Still searching for alternative if you have any.

Thanks.

I'm waiting for Acronis to build a plugin, as that is what we use.

I tried ModMaster's plugin and it never worked for me, their support is still running around in circles without a fix or a positive response. Don't buy the license straight out, you should try it out first with their free trial.

To me, I will wait for Jetbackup's directadmin plugin.

Thanks for your valuable suggestion. I once went to Chat Live with them & they are responsive but their plugin doesn't work, that's a big problem.

  • I know that JetBackup are in the process of supporting DirectAdmin soon.

  • Still waiting JetBackup plugin for directadmin.
So far still use directadmin backup/restore transfer tools is work enough.

  • Waiting for @JetApps also.

JetApps is available without control panel just for linux, so you will be abler to select the folders you wish to backup.

I still prefer Acronis, I am waiting for their plugin if it ever arrives.

  • Any news from Acronis about this?

  • JamesFJamesF Member, Host Rep

Acronis really won’t be anytime soon....

Acronis already supports DA/Linux just with no plug-in.

  • I'm using jetbackup 5 (edge) on DA without issues, but i have a small number of accounts.

  • I'm using https://bu-backup.com.ar/ with no problem, I actually like it a lot

Do this provide a user option to download or restore backups themselves?

on the worst plugins ever tried. No incremental support?! and very high usage cpu and other bugs as well!

Yes it supports incremental backups with rsync. Are you confusing it with something else?

  • I'd back up the entire server using Acronis until a plugin becomes available.

What does this mean practically? Does it do it automatically? I tried it for some weeks ago, and it filled up the disk abnormally. I dont know if it was TMP files or what, but surely something was wrong. Since clients were complaning about issues, i realized the server was filled and due to the backup job which went crazy. i deleted the backup folder in root and also the plugin itself.

Sorry if I bump this old thread.

I'm new to this DirectAdmin, just use it recently because moving out from cPanel.
I need a solution for DirectAdmin Backup.

So, basically what I need is a backup plugin that can do like this :

    • Multiple Uploads to the remote destination at one time ( Upload to 2x FTP and 1x S3 ).
    • Delete data after successful remote transfer.
    • Backup Retention. ( Remove the data on remote destination too )

So far, the closest thing I found online was JetBackup 5 ( https://www.jetbackup.com/jetbackup-5/ ) but they are not ready for production for now

Do you have any other suggestions?

JetBackup really... I am using it on production and it seems OK.
I also still do the usual DA backup to SSH storage.

it can do everything that I need from my list right?
How do you backup to SSH storage with the normal DA backup?

I installed it tonight and I must be mental, but I'm seeing it burning 8 CPU threads at 100% each doing nothing, not even running backups.

I logged a bug report to them to see WTF is going on.

I had that issue when trying to setup a backup location and it wasn't quite right. jetBackup logged in and sorted it.

They should have fixed the issue for everyone then :)
