@Ant, it is time to admit that LET is now just a real cestpit. This place is dead. It's time to move on.

@deank I is waiting for it..
BTW, Cest Pit will have to be renamed to Cess Pit - drives me nuts. :-p

    Are parties allowed over there?

I bounced over to there for a quick reminder. You sure have the foundation set, ready to rock but my key criticism is the lack of the flat main page that we see on LET. It makes it so much easier to spot new threads & updates. So many forums have that same WHT etc. look (as well as my e-commerce haunting ground). Whilst it appeals to my structured approach, it lacks the fluidity here, all IMO.

Is the flat main page customized?

  • where ever @Amitz goes, the Amitz party will be sure to follow :)

  • OK, we now have a potential VPS to run on, albeit with some worries about DDoS. I can assign it the domain etc. but still pondering on which control panel to run - I don't really care whether I use CentOS or debian (so there!). DA seems like a likely candidate (though it's added expense on this platform) and myvestacp was going to be my next trial, as I run through alternatives. It'll probably just end up with webmin, seeing as it's a single site.

Goes off to poke around Vanilla stuff - mmm, tasty ice cream.

EDIT: the flat main page shows up a few times in the Vanilla showcase, so it looks like a theming thang to me.

  • I did think about DDOS issues for obvious reasons. Either cloudflare or comodo cwatch can provide protection for free.

Haven't looked at Cloudflare for a while. I used to use a trick to get past the requirement to pay for https - dunno if still relevant.

Try yunohost panel. Webuzo is a decent option for single user site. As long as you lock it down. Pretty solid panel :)

    @poisson

  • yunohost currently uses php7.0 and will need tinkering

Never 'eard of it. Gonna stick with mainstream, given the rack911 stuff.

https can be done using LE. Check out comodo cwatch here: https://cwatch.comodo.com/plans.php

Look under CDN for the free plan. DDOS is well-covered

Eh, yeah. Have been using it since it was first publicly accessible - it's Cloudflare's interaction. In the past I had non-https traffic through CF but bypassed for SSL, so as to maintain the cert credentials etc.

    Ta.

  • Ready to start going down the rabbit hole... LET's see where this leads.
Why am I doing this? Takeover bids accepted!

It probably isn't necessary for a forum. Just need to prevent mitm.

YunoHost is fine as a personal CP. I recommend it for newbies.

It has been tried many times. The staff needs to make a plan and lead it.

Or we need to find a new leader.

    Like ants.

    Or bees.

    Or humans.

The end was here. The end was when someone announced "changes".

Welcome to post apocalyptic LET, PALET.

That was a typo. The post was meant to be titled "Shortchanged"
