It's definitely just an anomaly with the speed test. That's a relief..

The cores still don't make sense

You're right, I just did the bench again, here's the geekbench result (I stopped it after that)

     ## Geekbench v4 CPU Benchmark:

      Single Core : 2165 (FAIR)
       Multi Core : 2563

This seems like maybe I only have one "core" that's been split into 3 for appearance, which I really hope isn't the case..

    Hey,

So I forwarded the benchmark onto the team.

Turns out that the Sydney location is surprisingly unpopular (at least with our clientele) so them servers have not been upgraded in quite some time. This resulted in old setup code & CPU allocation percentages being applied to new servers being deployed there.

As can be seen with alilet's benchmark, this is not the case in other locations.

We've applied some changes to your VPS dahr, it should be functioning as expected now.

Thanks for the quick update. @dahartigan run a bench to confirm the issue is with Sydney being a hosting backwater 😂

    any bench or review?

I am one of the lucky ones that got a free VPS. Its all as advertised and running on OHV network.
Its to early to give a full review but till now all seems fine :)

You don't need to review yet, too early, but a benchmark would be helpful :)

You need to get a server to play with for research purposes, perhaps @EvolutionHost can offer you a server to run your LEBRE site from? Seems like a good fit to me :-)

Well, LEBRE is fine, but my actual day job is a researcher and I have been contemplating deploying a server-based IDE for statistical computation anytime, anywhere. Definitely a good fit when I saw @dahartigan's adjusted Geekbench scores because the cores are powerful enough.

Ooh that sounds interesting! Would be interesting to see what a statistical researchers opinion would be..

Yes, the Poland server does. I expect the same for France.

OP offered me a 3-CPU package, but then it becomes 2-CPU package upon hearing my plan of doing video transcoding on the VPS.
Resource is advertised to be "100% dedicated". Video transcoding would be a good workload for the CPU I have access to.

Maybe you don't meet their requirements?

    Hey Rinaldo,

As mentioned, we've been inundated with requests - However according to our records we did exchange several E-mails with you back and forth.

It looks like your application was put on the back-burner once a wall had been hit in our discussions.

Feel free to reach back out via E-mail and we can further discuss your application.

    Thanks in advance.

I don't, but they offered me "something else". blah blah blah blah, and see their reply below.

Mine isn't idling at all, it's on the plow 24/7 keeping track of the releases of new Linux ISOs, cataloguing and obtaining metadata for them, querying where one might download said Linux ISO and forwarding those requests to a server in Romania that will download, copy to google drive and then be organized, renamed, etc back on the evo server.

It's a tough field to plow, and in 2019 where even servers can have feelings too, it's offensive to accuse it of idling, when it's quite strong on the plow. 24/7. Hashtag ServerFeelingsMatterToo

  • A quick review after 2 full months of EvolutionHost 0 USD VPS.

    • Everything is working very well, there is no downtime for the whole time, I'm running a very light website based on WordPress so there was no issue.

This is a very good VPS even if you have to pay for it. Hope that they will keep this all over the time.
