Nothing special needed here...basic Linux VPS and software of choice...maybe the free CPanel DNS.
    .

Just grab the lowest plan from hetzner cloud, or Vulte

I do like that $6.95 per month KVM resource pool from @SmartHost (has it been officially released yet?) - which provides 2 GB ram, 5 cores, 50 GB NVMe storage, 5 IP addresses, and 2 TB monthly traffic to split up among up to 5 instances. Seems perfect for setting up a bunch of ~400 MB DNS servers. Or just two 1 GB servers if that's all you need. Or ... (you get the picture - it's a resource pool.)

Currently they offer more locations in USA than in the EU - but if Amsterdam and London might be sufficient for DNS purposes, then that would be a good place to start. I've been using them for 3 months, so far excellent uptime and availability. (The Virginia location did have an outage in August - when the datacenter was struck by lightning. No problems elsewhere so I'm inclined to say that one was a fluke.)

BuyVM also does a 512 MB in Luxembourg for $20 per year. You may find stock available around the 1st and 7th of each month. (Or check https://buyvmstock.com to see what's up if you're feeling lucky.)

First-Root (@FR_Michael) has a nice 512 MB KVM deal in Düsseldorf for €20 per year (+VAT if you are ordering from an EU country). I believe these systems will prove to be quite reliable - the epitome of superior potassium.

@HostDoc often has nice deals on small KVMs in several locations in the EU - check their flash sale page and also some current promotions on LET for their 2 year anniversary - I'm seeing a few annual deals for 512 MB KVM in London or Germany ranging between about £11 up to £16 annual cost. Also some KVM resource pool deals. (Check the HostDoc "Birthday" thread on LET).

If you can wait until Black Friday, then should be plenty of opportunities to pick up small KVM deals as well. Might keep an eye out for promotional offers from alphaVPS.bg (@AlexBarakov), Budgetnode (@Ishaq), CrownCloud (@SpeedBus), HostHatch (@Abdullah), InceptionHosting (@AnthonySmith), liteserver.nl (@LiteServer), ultraVPS.eu (@UltraVPS), and maybe even @VirMach for deals on small KVMs in Europe.

Probably at least a few other good ones you can find on LET in the meantime as well - these are just the ones I know well enough to recommend personally. Do check reviews / ask around here though to be sure of quality. I think all the ones I've mentioned are pretty decent - depending on what you need in the way of support, some may be more suitable for your particular needs than others.

Good luck with your DNS. :)

    EDIT2:

And it looks like @freerangecloud might now have a 512 mb kvm in Norway for $15 per year. Seems like a really good deal - and they are a reliable provider. (You may need to send them a PM or open a sales ticket to get this deal) -> https://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/3021678#Comment_3021678

    EDIT3:

Just remembered another great $15 annual deal for 512 mb kvm in London, from HostHatch - only available until September 22nd I think - see https://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/160118/london-chicago-offers-nvme-and-storage/p1 - you will need to fund account with $15 and open a sales ticket to get this. Note that HostHatch support for these deep discount offers is often very limited (read: can be slow) but their stuff works well so the system itself will be fine. (Really shouldn't be a problem unless you need someone to hold your hand and answer a lot of questions etc - in which case you might become "old man yelling at cloud" ...)

  • Buyvm 512mb slice at $2/month
Get one on each location = 3vms
    Enable anycast

  • I run BIND on a .5GB HostHatch Ubuntu VPS, $15/yr. Works great.

  • Why create more security risk and slow down resolution? Just go with a free service it will be light years faster and more secure

Or a $15/yr 128MB. nsd3 doesn't take much. I ran DNS off them for years before I got lazy and just used my registrar's.

OLD MAN I'M AFRAID IT'S NOT THAT SIMPLE :scream:

One does not simply "buy" a BuyVM ...

One must sit in wait, until the Perfect Moment presents itself

(This will often be around the 1st and 7th of each month)

Though one might in the meantime check https://buyvmstock.com in order to see if anything has become available. If one is feeling lucky. (Or this link might serve the same purpose: https://www.serverhunter.com/?search=A4A-51B-3B7) I understand that it may be possible to setup some sort of newfangled notification alert on these infernal contraptions, but I am currently unable to tell you exactly how.

And as for installing the CWP cyber web panel thing: (assuming it fits on a 512 MB ram KVM) you can, and you may - but I'm not sure if you should ...

due to some unresolved issues relating to the securitah. And so forth.

Perhaps this scuttlebutt is out of date, and all issues have been resolved, and all is forgiven.

But still maybe better to "ask around" a bit.

DirectAdmin is free on BuyVM though - not sure if that might be a "suitable alternative" for what you need ... but nonetheless LET us plan on "figuring out" something in the way of a lowend "optimized solution" for your DNS control-paneling needs

    EDIT2:

ah, what the hell - here are some "direct links" ...
