After buying a VPS from this company, you will automatically become an alpha male.

  • I've been using a 1gb ovz in London with these guys for half a year. Works great, no problems.

    OpenVZ 7 ?

  • They are currently testing OpenVZ7 with some clients at the moment. At the moment OVZ is 6.

I actually have 3 VPS with them OVZ and one KVM. All 4 are fantastic, have great uptime, good speed. They are based in the UK and US

Does OpenVZ 1GB promotion will be availible any time soon?

The time for that is likely past. (openvz6 that is)
I commend AlphaVps on being one of the first here to actively test OpenVZ7 as migration target for the older openvz customers.
    There's InceptionHosting too I guess.

I've been hearing nothing but crickets from the rest.

    OpenVZ 7 ?

I've got a test OVZ7 with those specs (as well as one other current OVZ6 and a past additional one that I didn't really need at the time that I let lapse) and while I haven't tested it too heavily due to real life stuff, I've no issues at all with it for anything I have done, works very well & quick.

I expect they will work on migration soon as long as everyone else is having similar results.

I've been testing OVZ7 with two different hosts and still going fine. No problems. Just my 2 cents.

    Are these dedicated cores?

Hi @simor - without any exceptions that I know of here on LET you can expect to find dedicated vcores (threads) advertised as such and priced accordingly.

If you do some math and calculate 4 vcores at 5€/month it just doesn't add up unless the cores are shared. That's one of the ways these good deals are possible - since for many use cases we just need to use CPU intermittently. (If you're looking for dedicated CPU then you can find a few decent offers on LET but be prepared to pay more.)

There is often a fuzzy concept of "fair use" for shared resources which may not be clearly defined until it needs to be. Most likely @AlexBarakov has answered some questions about CPU usage guidelines before, and hopefully won't mind doing so here again.

Different providers have different approaches about managing CPU use so it is definitely good to ask if you have concerns.

Also a good idea to check terms of service / authorized use policy - such as https://alphavps.bg/#!/terms-of-service

I think AlphaVPS.bg is a good example of a service that prioritizes reliable performance for low cost - not an easy thing to do, really.

@uptime Thanks for the detailed explanation. However sometimes I notice there is mention of dedicated vcores/threads/whatever at these prices or even slightly lower. I have no idea how it works but it works and I am not looking for such hosts to abuse the privilege but just to have peace of mind that when I need occasional "boost" whether its 1 minute or 60 that it won't get me in any trouble. So far I found few such hosts and I can't comaplin about their quality either so I just keep an eye out for others :)

Sorry, these won't be coming back, they were limited time promotions and quite a lot were sold actually.

Thank you for helping in clarification for the OVZ 7 tests! Sounds like a good time for you to get one in Bulgaria, as well? :)

Indeed we are and are pretty much done with testing, we're starting migrations shortly!

@simor - as @uptime explained - there is no possible way to offer 4 dedicated cores (be it threads) for 5EUR per month. Simply can't see it being possible. One - sure, but 4 for 5EUR is a bit too much pushing it.
