VirtualSRV Downtime

edited February 2012 in General

Has anyone been experiencing downtime with VirtualSRV today? I am on the Chicago OpenVZ node and it has been offline since 6AM EST today.. Does anyone know what is going on? It also appears that three of their nodes are currently offline..

  • I find this very odd... Is this another host getting ready for the "deadpool"? I have over 100 shared hosting clients on my VPS with them and it's been offline for more than 12 hours!

  • It looks to me as if they haven't paid their Invoices or something and their servers were suspended - this is just a guess. Does anyone know if the KVM node is in the same DC as their Openvz Node?

I haven't been able to find any info on WHT or on their Twitter - try to send a PM to the owner at http://www.webhostingtalk.com/member.php?u=316640 - he was online yesterday.

  • Im still down, infact, the ip's whois is blank now.

  • @bijan588 whats your ip?

  • 23.19.138.149 is/was a VPS with Virtualsrv. Since they cancelled my account on the same day that my invoice was due, and took days to respond to my inquiry, I gave up on them.

  • Seems all of their Servers are back Online according to their Pingdom report - hopefully they will provide an explanation for what happened.

  • @DotVPS Seems my guess was correct that they were experiencing billing issues! However unlike some providers these guys took responsibility and clearly said that the servers were offline due to a billing issue which is extremely honest from them.

Now as always however guys keep backups of your data!

How do you take measures to avoid not having enough money to pay the bill? If they have a money fairy, I want one too!

  • I find that a lie though. 3 of their nodes were down which all were in seperate datacenters from each other..

Maybe they'll spend less on hookers and yachts next month? :)

  • @DotVPS said: Same company maybe?

Doesn't seem so, Singlehop in Chicago, Ubiquity Servers in Phoenix, and Hetzner in Germany according to the test IP's in this post:

  • Is anyone's server STILL down?
