In the end, the real victim is customers who were foolish enough to spend money on those service.

In a broader point of view, the whole hosting industry is the real victim because prices are pushed down by the scammers. People tend to buy from them because of the very low prices and honest companies are forced to make cheaper offers, lower the quality of the service and/or fire employees just to survive.

So the victims are multiple here, people, competitors, employees, and so on.

iirc around 2011/12 Dustin also ran a huge pump and dump operation to mass IP's that did not end well which he sold to QN and that is how he got to QN in the first place.

The first company he ran was called SemoWeb. It was sold to Root Level Technologies. There was an IP buyout with Crissic I believe.

Are these buyouts super cheap or something? Seems hosting companies are rarely valued more than 1 X Earnings. Ridiculous.

      A. Bro, help me out. I am going broke. Can't sustain.
      B. Fine, what steam game do you want?
      A. This & that, those two will be enough for me to kill time while I lay low for few weeks.
      B. Ok, gifted games.
      A. Thanks, Bro. Client email list sent. I will be back later with another company.

Their Justice server was having issues on Tuesday so they migrated me to Liberty which was another disaster. I finally gave up and took backups and moved all my sites over to another host. 7 hours later, the disaster happened. Soooo darn lucky. Saved by hours.

I would have lost some emails and comments on the blogs I was hosting with them... but yea, I wouldn't be in a deep s##t like some others are. I learned by lesson from ZXHOST. Keep backups. Don't trust any provider specially on the LowEnd network.

On twitter someone reported they were denied a paypal refund due to being "over 60 days".

me and my friend who also have vps from alpharacks try to be refunded .. but paypal denided that because it pass more than 60 days

We've all seen this before. They'll continue trying to stall and keep all their clients' hopes up. Promising all the while there is no loss of data. Meanwhile they are emptying their paypal funds and all the money from this con-job far out of the reach of the impending slew of chargebacks.

Likely my next payment cycle is on June. So this issue clearly indicated me to move out and cancel my service. I already restored almost all my services from backup at home hosted server at this stage (looking to good KVM deal). Unfortunately, I have found that not everything been backed up (my fault) and some data been lost. Not big deal for own self hosted data.

I used Duplicati for backup purpose for my low end VPS and more than happy with it. I believe it is only open source block based backup with small overhead for local storage and network and highly recommend it.

      From the latest tweet:

AlphaRacks CEO/owner is Julian Jin whilst Joshua Collishaw is the COO (based in the UK).

So Julian Jin must be a real person. Is that the same "Julian" that posts here for AR and does sales??

How does that make him a real person (and not just a name used by others)? On their press release in April he was "managing director". If he's real where is his facebook, twitter, linkedin, etc. accounts?

If it is a registered company then it would be with a state government, and you'd look it up at the Secretary of State office (or equivalent).
