Seems like a great deal but no use for it atm :frowning:

Apparently only 7x units left for this deal.

2 vCore Xeon E5

10GB ECC Ram

100GB Enterprise SAS

1 Gbit/s Shared

Fair Use Traffic

1 IPv4 Adresse

Seems like trash not suited for LET.

Only post offers that are under $7/month or equivalent recurring.

At least have decency to use the Offtopic category.

That's a competitive price for a vServer in Switzerland.
But yes, 9.90.. it's not lowend at all:grin:

They do have some in LET limits: https://shop.store-host.com/cart.php?gid=17

There's also the 'VMWARE EXTRA SMALL' plan for €2/month (regular price) which is quite good spec and location wise:

    1 vCore Intel Xeon E5
    512MB ECC Ram
    10 GB SAS Speicherplatz
    1 Gbit/s Shared
    Fair Use Traffic
    1 IPv4 Adresse
    2.25CHF MONATLICH
    https://shop.store-host.com/cart.php?gid=17

Seems to be on fsit.ch network, possibly colocation at their datacenter.

They only offer their own rescue cd when ordering, which from this screenshot

provide installations with very simple 'hardcoded' passwords. (They might also allow mounting isos, or have other templates)

Looking at the commercial register it is a sole proprietorship company, filed for bankruptcy on 18.12.2018 but then appealed and returned into business on 01.02.2019.

The question is are you able to change it fast enough before botnets scanning their IP range for new installs with these passwords get in to plant a backdoor. Seriously, having such a system in place is already bad enough, but publicizing that you have it to the entire world on Twitter, complete with the default passwords, is just downright retarded.

Agree that it's not $7/month but the PHP Friends deal wasn't that pricing either and everyone was glad it wasn't posted in Offtopic either. The rule only applys to provider's offer posts. That is to say, members not belonging can still post any offers they consider worth sharing. It's been like that forever since I can remember. That being said it is great pricing for a Switzerland VPS as most other Switzerland VPS are way more expensive or give you way less resources for that price (usually with other providers like SwissMadeHost, Fsit, Exoscale, NineCH, Cloudscale..way less).

Again, it's not even thug life because the rules only apply to Providers posting in offer threads. You can still only check the offers there if you don't want to be confronted with anything that exceeds these limits.

    General offer thread rules

You must have a provider tag to post any offer threads at all.

Taken from the Rules for selling on LET thread. It's about rules for the offer section and for SELLING on LET. Now, I am not even the one selling these VPS (I am only posting about them because I think it's worth sharing) or in any way affiliated with the company (nor with PHP friends or any other) so this simply does not apply.

And now you argue that by putting a little bit of garbage on the road side technically you didn't violate any laws. Sure, maybe you didn't...

Looks quite decent tbh. How long have you been with them?

  • @GameTownProjects this sever has been hacked too or used to backup your client's servers?

  • HaendlerITHaendlerIT Member, Host Rep

We use Store-Host.com as the 3rd location for our DNS servers since the beginning of the year and can't complain about anything.

What else might be mentioned is that Store-Host operates its own hardware in one of FSIT's data centers.
That FSIT is a reseller would be new for me, but I have not dealt so intensively with the Swiss market.

True. Then again find the offered specs with any other Swiss VPS provider. It's not easy.
