  • @cociu Few questions about OpenVZ offer:

    @cociu said:

    1) Does it mean, that this service on OpenVZ 6 stuck with kernel 2.6 and ancient (maybe not supported already) distros (Ubuntu 16.04, Debian 8)?

    2) If not, what are the latest version of Ubuntu/Debian which we can chose (or upgrade to)?

    3) In case it will broke can we reinstall OS from web control panel (and bring it to fresh state) or not (this VPS is gone, nonoperational)?

    4) Any chance to upgrade HDD size? Let say trading half of RAM (1GB -> 512MB) for replacing 10GB 15k with 100GB regular HDD? Or other options?
10GB seems ridiculously small for server with 10TB bandwidth value...

I would not exaggerate with 15k rpm HDD boeing almost like SSD. Even for SATA SSD there is still huge gap in IOPS, not mentioning about NVME SSD where this gap is GIGANTIC.

IMHO this OpenVZ could be hard to sell if compared with latest HostHatch anniversary promo (KVM, 1GB RAM, 16GB NVME SSD, 10TB bw @ Chicago for $15/yr), so my above question about 100GB reqular HDD option.

  • Nice offers!

  • Will it be upgraded to OVZ7 after it's eol?

Seriously considering getting one for the sole purpose of using it as a pin cushion for any torrenting activities...

Edit: caved to temptation, looking forward to taking the cociu rollercoaster. Needs sister as payment option in check out though..

Andrews said: @cociu Few questions about OpenVZ offer:

    1) the maximum what you can install is what we have in the list. No future upgrades.
    2) you have in the list what you can use.
    3) is go no operational , you need to open a tiket , maybe we will resolved manybe not , sorry i have adverted many time about upgrades and always have people who tink is more smart and still try so we are not obligated to repair once we have clearly adverted about this ... so tiketing and wait .. because this tikets will be the last resolved.
    4) this is a tipical offer we do not make custom in this offers. If you follow my offers i am sure you will find something similar. About ssd comparation i have compared te write/read speed not iops and etc.
    5) yes we accept sisters too :)

  • Hi cociu,
I lost my entire p0rn collection after a normal reboot a few months ago. I can sense that it is still somewhere on your server. I hope you enjoy it.
    Best wishes.

hi cociu, did anyone or have you tried

    https://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/149318/converts-your-openvz-vps-to-alpine-linux

will be interesting on your node.

  • Thanks @cociu for setting up my vps, so far it's very good. My sister, not so good, so I hope you are satisfied with the trade.

@dahartigan are you brave to try the above script to convert it to alpine?

I would say: too risky. If it doesn't succeed, then you can't reinstall without opening a ticket, but then there's a long wait because you've been a bad boy.

@cociu's OVZ6 VPSes are not for bold experiments.
