    Apparently I am too free, add this to your ~/.bashrc for dget :)
    @eol You will love it

    dget() {
        wget --progress=bar:force "$1" 2>&1 | gawk 'BEGIN { RS="\x0d" } { gsub("\\[>", "[~"); gsub("=>", "D~"); gsub("\\[=", "[8"); printf "\033[K%s\r", $0 }'
    }

    I am learning awk while I am typing the above so someone might have a better way to solve this

    EDIT: Replaced awk with gawk, seems like gawk is the only implementation that will work nicely with the pipe output from wget :(

    Thanked by 2uptime eol

    Go ahead :)

    By the way I found that gawk is the only implementation that works fine, mawk and awk will not output correctly :(
