The documents - obtained in a sealed California lawsuit and leaked to the UK lawmaker during a London business trip, include internal emails involving CEO Mark Fuckerberg - and led committee chair Damian Collins to conclude that Facebook gave select companies preferential access to valuable user data for their apps, while shutting off access to data used by competing apps. Facebook also allegedly conducted global surveys of mobile app usage by customers - likely without their knowledge, and that "a change to Facebook's Android app policy resulted in call and message data being recorded was deliberately made difficult for users to know about," according to Bloomberg.

I'm sure that most people won't be surprised. but until now they don't have hard proof of Facebook sell Users Data.

facebook users are dumb f_cks. Zuckerberg as much as we might dislike him could only do what he did and how he did it because hundreds and hundreds of millions of users not only trusted him but, still trusting facebook or not, still are users, many of them even addicted to facebook.

I remember well how amazed I was to see that even many right leaning opposition organizations mostly used facebook, even after attempts by governments to get easy access to facebooks posts to delete them or even users.

In that context it became quite clear that it's much easier to get facebook to do dirty or even illegitimate things than to e.g. care about the safety of their users data. Of course! After all as we learned their users data not being safe was a major revenew source.

And after all that they still have more than a billion users. So obviously Zuckerbergs now famous "dumb f_cks" statement was and is right. Sorry.

I am completely and utterly shocked about those news. I never, ever, expected Facebook to do such horrible things. That was absolutely unforeseeable. I am devastated.

User data is only worth less than $15 per profile per year for Facebook. The problem is, if people were offered the option of keeping their data private for $15/year or have their info sold to use the service for free the vast majority would keep the $15. People should not be upset about a problem they are contributing to.

  • deankdeank Member, Troll

Well, here is the problem. Even if Facebook offered 15 dollars / year to keep their data private, Facebook will sell it regardless.

They would now, but if they started off as a paid service they wouldn't have had to invest so heavily in data mining and ad services.

  • deankdeank Member, Troll

Nah, they would still sell it at one point.

Where are proofs? Just two links with some bullshit written on the page from the no-name guy, etc? Cool story. Really cool story.

Personally, I see last year - massive pressure on almost ALL social networks/media with making different fakes against their CEO, their directors, their products, etc. I see massive censorship pressure on almost all media and cutting off financial part via fake reasons.

Fight for free internet it's about people must be a worry, but nobody care, people can easily eat any shit what produced by smart assholes without any proofs, without anything.

It's super easy to blame someone, and destroy a career, destroy financial part, etc.

Sorry, but I don't buy this shit. I see a massive wave of censorship against the internet, and this is not okay part. Someone preparing for something big. Maybe a global war? Because a war can explain censorship very easily.

    Proof?

In the current generation, the (SJWs) motto is, "Guilty until proven innocent."

Therefore, we don't need proof/evidence. Facebook shall remain guilty until proven innocent.

Wut? This is based on the documents released under seal (by Facebook, I understand) to party suing them. That party has later popped in to the UK, with the data on them, where they've been told to handover this data to UK government or face legal repercussions.

Research before going on a tirade against someone.

All social networks controlled by Security services and Financial Groups. unsuspected users just fill up their dossiers by self. No need research. Everyone know that. WhatsUp Viber etc also.

I would be surprised, if Mark is not selling his grandmother to a people trader.

  • "But the facts are clear: we've never sold people's data."

I understand it means "we have never sold people's data to just anyone for a fixed price", but it still sounds delusional coming from a company that offers a service in exchange for data.
