The only thread on this site that matters anymore. Until BF, that is. Viva la VirMach!

  • Anybody got that SSD32G? PM me the code if you figured it out.

  • do we see this thread reaching 200 pages till BF2019?

    Thanked by 1FAT32
  • I miss my SSD32G. No mercy from @Virmach, they took it from me :(

Can we atleast get it to 150 pages?

    Thanked by 1FAT32

that would be something like 10 posts (more or less) per day ...

(assuming LET doesn't shit the bed again in the meantime)

    Thanked by 1FAT32
  • Well, it may be doable if couple of people join the party.

  • @imok are you okay ...? j/k

Welcome to my world - uptime is over-rated

I wish I could sleep more than 3 hours in a row regularly anymore

I guess we're just "living the dream" ... as they say

    Thanked by 1FAT32
  • With the LET DDoS there is no chance for 200 pages... until we take part in it!

    Thanked by 1FAT32
  • Fuck. 5am and just woke up. I should be waking up at 8:30am.

    I want to sleep!!! Or a SSD32G!!!

There is no reason for this post other than to tell you all to have a nice day. That is all. Have a nice day.

Here's a fun exercise to pass the time till BF -- everyone post how many active services you have with VirMach and what you are doing with them.

    VirMach Servers:
    2 Dedicated (Buffalo)
    2 OpenVZ (Buffalo+LA)
    10 KVM (Buffalo+Chicago+Dallas)

    Uses:
One dedicated is sponsored for the FreeMach project, the other is my main personal dedi loaded up with proxmox doing various tasks (game servers, web server, music server, windows remote desktop, etc.)
The VPSes are idle for the most part (go figure), but serve as good pre-prod/dev spaces when the need arises. A few, however, have dedicated tasks, such as housing the control panel/daemon for my FreeMach project and running a slew of small teamspeak servers for friends and small gaming gaming communities.

What's your VirMach hoard look like? :)

    Thanked by 2uptime FAT32
  • I would love to count how many and what types of VPSes I have, but the billing panel of virmach is PITA for that and opening every server in new tab will ban me for few minutes :-D

hmmm ... that might take a little while for me to compile, lol

actually - minus the dedis - pretty similar numbers as @MasonR

    • 1TB storage kvm (Buffalo) - mostly cold storage
    • 9 kvm (3 Buffalo, 1 Chicago, 1 Seattle, 3 Los Angeles, 1 San Jose) - testing (yunohost), backup, kanban, idling, idling, testing, wiki, wiki, jumphost
    • 2 ovz (Buffalo and Seattle), idling - had planned to use for some scraping, haven't got back to that project yet
    • total (shared) vcores 25
    • total ram just a hair over 30 GB
    • total storage about 1.25 TB
    • total bandwich available ... I dunno, looks like over 20 TB per month (which I seldom use much of) - a few with supposedly 10 gbit ports

Most of these are from last BF flash sale of course. I am planning to drop a few this time around just to rein in the budget a bit (these all add up to slightly over $200 per year, which is ridiculously cheap but still ...)

I'm having a hard time convincing myself to let any of them go though - it's really nice to have the servers available for random testing and even a few serious projects when something comes up.

Performance has been solid and support has been there for the rare request (ie, cpu flags passthrough on the storage).

I have 6 kvm with total of 20.5 GB of Ram.
4 Ovz with total of 4GB of Ram.

One remote desktop on the nice FAT32 deal. Nextcloud of ovz with 75 GB of storage. Other thing idle. I may setup Jira on 6Gb KVM for my social club a University, but for now, idling.
All other idle really hard or are part of a botnet and I'm not aware. ( Seriously I monitor and update them time to time)

    Everything cost something like 50$/y.

Btw, on of my vps expire in two days and I will give it to anyone who will pay transfer + paypal. Spec KVM 4GB/2vCore/15GB/750GB 18.69/y. Be fast.

Edit : Counted 30 shared vCore.

  • So much idle in this thread

  • Forget to says that I have like 20 ipv4 for my 10 vps. Enjoy the week-end.

I wish we could re-sell them someday! ;)

  • Well, you can try. For some crazy offer, I'm sure even Virmach can make a offer to get them back.

  • Idling is hard sometime. Found 5 vps not monitored by uptimerobot. I 'm considering droping at that NAT vps.

  • Monitoring idle VPSes?! WAT?
