Change of VPS

Hello dear LowEndTalk, I have a VPS with Contabo that I pay way too little for, it turns out that I get what I pay for (who would have guessed?). So I'll need to change.

The VPS runs some HTML/CSS/JS websites and CMS websites (Grav and WordPress) with one WordPress website pulling 100% of one core of my last VPS when loading a certain CPU heavy page.

I'm looking at something bellow 40 or around 40 EUR a month, needs to be in Europe. We don't make much money and several of these websites are for student associations and charity groups that cannot pay much. Right now we are thinking between a Hetzner server auction box or the NetCup RS4000. Here is an image of the Hetzner auction server we were looking at , it may be gone soon be we assume new ones in the same range will pop up. Any suggestions? We want this un-managed ,both to save costs and fulfill my need for linux command line.

Edit: I don't mean to spread any bad rumours about Contabo, we used the cheapest VPS offer and got what the specs told us we'd get.

Edit: specs of Hetzner auction server for 41 EUR a month
Intel Xeon E3-1271V3
2x SSD SATA 240 GB Datacenter
4x RAM 8192 MB DDR3 ECC
NIC 1 Gbit

  • Intel I210
    Location: FSN1 (a 2009 datacenter)
    Rescue system (English)

Those speeds does not seem too good, using VPS or dedicated?
Why are you moving away from them?

  • dedicated.

away because its slow for me to connect. i should have done tracert in first place

hetzner is good for some things but speed wise i dont think its the best from what i see here. been with them since may 2018
