[Review&Tips] Hostsolutions storage VPS (new datacenter)

I saw this offer weeks ago and I decided to give Hostsolutions a shot. My server was delivered yesterday. I tested it for a little while and here are some tips for people like me who haven't used their service before.

  1. Their control panel is a little confusing. You don't get any kind of notification after you hit the reinstall button. It makes you think something is going wrong. However, if you wait a while you will be redirected to dashboard and the reinstallation is finished.
  2. NoVNC Console was not working at the time I tried. Error 401: No Ticket.
  3. They use LXC. The server load you see is probably from the physical server your VM is hosted on. It doesn't necessarily mean your VM is slow as hell if you see the sever load is 33 using top command.
  4. I set a speed limit of 10MB/s and transferred 250GB data in from another VM with no issue. It took about 8 hours.
  5. Templates available: Centos 6/7, Debian 6/7/8, Ubuntu 10.04/12.04/14.04/16.04/17.04

To sum up, it's not bad considering I only paid 25 euro/yr for 1TB storage. I haven't experienced any super slow performance yet. It worked as I expected.

  • I think it's fair for the price. Cociu's vps/hosting is not the most polished line in the market, there are usually things missing on the control panel or on how the user can manage it, but it usually works without issues for a long time. As of the speed, I guess 100Mbps is not bad at all for 2$/m @ 1TB space!
