It seems that http://www.speedtest.net is using Internet Brothers ( http://www.internetbrothers.co.kr )
For south Korea servers (According to their forum) I might consider IB for hosting

  • Any Idea?

I checked their domain it seems their domain has been registered in 2001 that is 12 years in business . I will give them a phone call

  • If you or your co-workers are able to speak Korean, consider phps.kr. I have heard good reviews about them.

    I used cafe24.com like 10 yrs ago, their KRW500/mo. plan. :)
They're still around and consistently expanding + upgrading. Probably worth a look if language isn't a barrier.

EDIT: Bandwidth limits are usually on a per-day basis on these Korean hosts.

  • If you are looking for credibility then there is also KT https://ucloudbiz.olleh.com/portal/ktcloudportal.epc.productintro.cspublic.html

In our office We have Korean staff but we need English support. And the problem with all those mentioned is that their support is a little funny, They have bulletin boards, every time you ask them some thing and they give a reply the forum get's locked and you can not answer further and you have to open a new thread.

For Koreans it might be OK but not for foreigners, On the other hand we need
the invoices in English not Korean.

Our Korean staff says cafe24 dedicated server is ridiculous . He says they have been doing a lot for shared hosting but they lack solid dedicated server offer so many restriction with them. Also when you want to buy even one additional IP we have to beg and beg.

    Any more suggestion?

  • @Godlovesyou Wow, I didn't know their dedicated was that bad. The only Korean host I've personally seen actively targeting the English-speaking market is Internet Brothers.

Yes I talked with a guy , He is fluent in English and very helpful. Apparently they are hosting a lot of foreign mission and corporations in Seoul.

I am thinking of visiting them in their data center but before I do please give more suggestions

    For dedi,

    dirt cheap. lowenddedi: http://www.tongkni.co.kr/

reasonable price and somewhat reliable. They have great monitoring services all included for free: http://www.cloudv.kr/

    For "cloud"

expensive but great credibility(doesn't necessarily mean good reliability, though. At least from my pingdom record): http://en.ucloudbiz.olleh.com/ (And they do have official English support)

    For VPS,

    dirt cheap and reliable: http://www.cafe24.com/

... these are companies that come into my mind right away

    Thanked by 1Nickman
  • huh? KT/olleh is not expensive... cheapest VPS is like 15$ per month and includes a TB bw..

fyi, many Korean providers have a lot of restrictions. for instance, outbound international traffic is often limited and just one additional ip requires a lot of justification.

All of Korean companies do have some of these restrictions but olleh ucloud. They are backed by KT, the biggest network provider in Korea. The only downside is that they are expensive. And... from my personal experience, not enterprise class reliability. I'm not sure about this... I used their service since they were in beta and that might be why.

  • Again, Ucloud is not expensive for Asia... i'm not sure where you buy your VPS usually...

http://cafe24.com/ - maybe OpenVZ or Virtuozzo

    http://www.woobi.co.kr/ - maybe KVM

http://sqs.kr/ - VMWare (Full Virtualization) but sqs.kr has many bad review.

    http://phps.kr/

    http://nflint.com/

  • Just to note, there are quite a few good 'server' hosting companies in Korea. It's just that most of them don't have English support and require a means of identification be it IPIN or something else. I would recommend InternetBrothers as your provider if you need English support.

    I agree with Shunny

I had a lot of troubles with companies in Korea before because most of them did not support English specially after office hours all their staff can do is to reboot, reboot , reboot .
On the other hand they seem to overcharge foreigners. As soon as they know the buyer is a foreigner they have this idea that they will end up with a lot lot international bandwidth and illegal stuff.

To save money most Korean companies have very few staff after office hours but I have a couple of servers with Internet Brothers every time I contact them I get right to the point response.

I recommend them as well. Good luck.
