  • How does the cpu compare to vultr / DO because I tested them a couple weeks ago for viseo encoding and they were 2× slower than DO and 3x slower than vultr. Do you have some experience with them?

    Linode CPU's are faster than DO.... With Vultr they are close...

  • Wow, I notice storage is bumped up, too. Something to consider.

    It's nice, considering there was no price increase, but how often will you burst 6Gbps when you have 8TB of bandwidth? Maybe if you are running some backup script, but even then the server from the other side must be able to handle it, network and hardware-wise.

    sweet goodness - getting ~635MB/s outbound from my Linode 4-8GB VPS - borrowed 1000MB.bin file from Vultr to download to my local Linode VPS for testing

    wget -O /dev/null http://domain.com/vultr.com.1000MB.bin
    --2018-07-14 14:18:38--  http://domain.com/vultr.com.1000MB.bin
    Resolving domain.com... xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
    Connecting to domain.com|xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx|:80... connected.
    HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
    Length: 1048576000 (1000M) [application/octet-stream]
    Saving to: ‘/dev/null’

    /dev/null   100%[============>]   1000M   635MB/s    in 1.6s

    2018-07-14 14:18:40 (635 MB/s) - ‘/dev/null’ saved [1048576000/1048576000]

    All three of those are a horrible choice for video encoding, no? Virtualized, shared, throttled CPU.
