A managed dedicated server, most probably, because it's going to burn.

First I'd suggest you re-think your idea (no offense). What will your file hosting site (using a free script) do BETTER than all the other ones which are already out there? If anything I'd probably suggest looking inti YetiShare if you really want to offer a lot of features for your file hosting site (there is also YetiShare free version though limited). Secondly, ask yourself: Are you ready to move hosts frequently after a few takedown notices arrive? Are you ready to mirror your hosted files to atleast 4 locations at different hosts in case one hosts gets a DMCA and quickly decides to suspend/terminate you? Thirldy, did you consult a lawyer in your country regarding this? If not I strongly recommend doing so and even that may not be enough if your site is being abused. Copyrighted movies that might be shared are one thing, child porn (even if you forbid it some ppl might upload it) will introduce you to your countries secret service.

TL;DR: Don't. Spend the money on something else YOU are gonna enjoy.

And to answer your question in case you still wanna stick to it: I guess look at OVH dedicated servers.

  • Just few advices if you want to play this game:

    1. No OVH. OVH will put your servers into readonly mode in 1-2 months.
    2. No Yetishare. Get an XFilesharing Pro (not Free).
    3. Consider Leaseweb as your primary hosting provider.
    4. No managed servers.
    5. No Software RAIDs.
    6. Register offshore company if you're going to host adult content.
    7. Profit.

    Thanks

If the upload size is limited to 100mb why would your site stick out compared to others? If people would mainly upload files smaller than 100mb they usually get a free Google Drive/Dropbox/Mega acc and have more than enough size to host all their docs with a provider that is gonna stay around. Again no offense just wanna give some pointers^^

  • Before starting your new site, check this out http://www.kim.com/ . Check the raid part. For legal file uploading people only use sites like google drive, dropbox etc and some encryption sites. If you offer something new like a nice encryption and security, people may use your site.

Yes russia don't care as long as russians do it for outside world & not for their country.

And you said offshore, if you are talking about non US countries then they have their own copyright laws.

    i talk to https://www.leaseweb.com
and after send my money he want copy ID ???

  • @qwee

    Few possibilities here:

    1) You're from what they classify as a "high risk" country

    2) You use a payment method with the possibility of reversing payment (e.g PayPal, credit or debit)

    3) You used an IP to sign up that doesn't match the billing address

No. This is a myth. And "DMCA ignored" doesn't mean anything; in most countries, an abuse report can have any format, whether that of a DMCA notice or not, and you'd still have to comply.

Please stop this thread already. This guy is about to waste so much money on something that’s not unique in anyway at all. It most probably won’t become anything.

Sure, put down tons and tons of resources, get a business angel to invest in your unique touch and you might just make it, but a premade script and no spesific touch or a huge budget you’re very out of luck. Dedicate your time into somethig actually valuable to yourself or others.

It's like saying "must have server with providers that ignore English emails" and thinking that you'll be safe, until the day when a copyright holder sends them an email in German.

Seriously, if you host copyrighted contents in NL or RO who ignores DMCA, you'll probably get trouble within no time.
