VPN Service for the Non-Nerd

Friend wants a VPN service because he travels and is paranoid about hotel wi-fi. Does not want to learn how to admin a VPS or setup OpenVPN.
Suggestions? I’ve seen NordVPN bandied about here but have never looked at them. I used PIA ages ago.

https://windscribe.com/ there is a promo somewhere for 50GB
Give him a .ovpn from one of your many idling machines :P
I still like PIA. Reliable and dependable
NordVPN is quite good but has the same problem probably most VPN providers have: one needs to quite often change the vpn server because the quality always changes.
I don't use any gui tools myself but I assume that network manager and similar tools should be easy enough once someone knowing his ways has set up a couple of VPN servers to chose from for your friend.
Maybe NordVPN themselves even offers some friendly gui tool, I don't know sorry.
Btw does anyone here know about a tool that checks a list of VPN servers for quality of service/speed and suggests the best one? If yes that might be handy also for @raindog308's friend.
But then I have to provide support when something goes wrong ;-)
I have been using PIA for that reason for quite some time. A few friends and family use it as they needed something simple. Install is easy and it is a one click activate. On Android one click with a widget or open the app and slide to turn on. Speed has been great. You can have a number of connections at once - I don't remember how many.
Just saw your message about support. I think they have chat support on PIA.

ProtonVPN? Reasonable free tier and clients for most platforms.
Nord vpn. App/program for phone, tablet and laptop. Plenty of locations and it's cheap using one of the easily found URL coupons. Express vpn is a touch more $ for better speed but for a non nerd this won't matter
PIA is really cheap compared to the other big ones and I can't imagine someone having a hard time using it. Has well developed apps for all of the platforms/devices I need it for.
NordVPN :P If budget Ivacy/Windscribe.
Maybe he's into porn, though...
Network afficionados may clarify but isn't ssh -D 1234 yourserver.com just as good and SOCKS through that?
If you want to shop local there's https://www.buyprivacy.net/. He built everything in house (billing panel, VPN management iself, etc).
I always go catch lunch with the owner, @TriJetScud, whenever I take a trip to Hongcouver.
Francisco
Thanks @Francisco!
Yep, I will admit the entire panel along with billing and VPN management pieces of it is all done in house. So in other words, there's no WHMCS and/or FreeRADIUS WHMCS plugins involved. This gives me the advantage where fixes and feature updates can be deployed in a rapid fashion, unlike some companies that relies on third party vendors to deploy updates and bug fixes.
For the past couple of days, I've been working on code cleanup on the frontend and backend so it'll become much easier to maintain in the future and supporting new payment gateways depending on the market demand will be much easier!
Acctually P*rnhub lauched its very own VPN service called "VPNhub"
Outline server - Set it up, send the link. Google's made it super easy.
Even more extensive: https://github.com/StreisandEffect/streisand
What is it with you SE Canadians?
I bet you have BuyBitcoin, BuyFenatyl, and BuyVotes.
I can setup a VPN in minutes. I can give someone a .ovpn. But then when it breaks, something doesn't work, it's slow, he has a question, etc...no thanks. I already provide free technical support to family members...I'm not getting into friends :-)
Ahhhh
