Hostpolar is dead. NYC connectivity?

I was using HostPolar. They'll gladly take your money, but if you have any issues, you'll just be told repeatedly they'll "check this and update you". http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1097890 tells me i'm not the only person experiencing this.

Anyway, I'm looking for a VPS in New York City. I don't have a requirement for high specifications, so I'm not looking to pay a lot.

I already have a VPS in Las Vegas with alienvps, so I'd prefer to use someone else for NYC.

I'm looking at Hudson Valley Host, anyone have any experience with them? Or any other companies to suggest?

Yup, Ernie is a good guy and I have known him for quite a while.(Owner of HVH) We host our Master ControlPanel over at HVH and I worked their in 2009.

Zero issues on any of my service(s) with them! I highly recommend them.

My first experience of them was through a reseller of them which wasn't so good, the IO was really bad and servers were slow but Ernie actually fixed that. Recently a friend of mine bought a server with them and he's been happy with 'em.

  • Sounds good, I'll go with them then.

I sent them an email regarding if they do custom VPS packages or not. Haven't heard from them yet, but it's not been very long either.

  • Well they never responded. Any other suggestions?

  • It's seems they not need client and plan to shutdown business soon. Fail

  • just boot them. They are a part of altushost which is a pure failure. Their support is plain retarded and I'm not joking. Get on their live chat if you wanna catch some free lulz.

  • @DotVPS: I meant that Hudson Valley Host didn't respond to my inquiry.

In that case I'd say look elsewhere if they don't want your business or don't care for their own business..

    Hello,
Im sorry if we did not reply we may have missed your inquiry. Can you please forward it to: ernie (at) hudsonvalleyhost.com.

We never intentionally avoid any customers or potential customers.

  • It used to be on https, and it was down. Now, it's back on http.

  • @Damian @DotVPS Seems like they misconfigured the https, i was just able to visit https://secure.hostpolar.com/ and it loads their main website instead of their client area.

  • Not surprising, I don't really think they have any idea WTF is going on.

My VPS with them was down for six days due to "ethernet card failure". Idk about Chicago, but here, there's a whole pile of Walmarts / Best Buys / Circuit Citys / CompUSA / Office Depot / Office Max that sell ethernet cards.

Yea. Our router would have 'ethernet card failures' too if I didn't pay my bills either :P

Pretty sure that's an industry wide problem.
