Wait, didn't the Russians just recently massively reelect Putin for the nth time? Arguably, he's only doing what the great majority of Russians want him to do. Or do I have this wrong? (Those were free elections, weren't they?)

Putin is Head of the executive branch, not the legislature. Of course he has veto right, but he is not responsible for all the shit.

I wonder if this explains the massive increase of orders from Russia in the past few days.

I've noticed a massive uptick in the last 24-hours in orders from Russia. Hopefully it's related to this and not a fraud ring.

Okay, fine, but it would nevertheless be somewhat hard to believe that all of this didn't receive his tacit approval.

If the Russian population is/gets sufficiently outraged, it's hard to believe that all of this blocking will persist.

The theory is that they do not have public "attention of government agencies" because they were already asked behind the scenes and complied by quietly sharing everything they were asked for.

As with any unprovable theory, I can only say "may be, or may be not".

    Try looking here:

The above is where the ISPs should take their blocklists.

No, IPv6 is not being blocked at all.

  • not even sure how this is news tbh. just the extreme left that think farting should be a public disclosure... who then drivel with privacy and security. you can read the thread, you just get the super paranoid talking shite about the government who are 'happy' to live in the country they talk against. they have a pick of several hundred.

I have about five VMs across hetzner, aruba, ovh and leaseweb that are used as VPN by russian customers for quite a while.
guess I am lucky big time as for now none of them are on subnets in that list.

  • Wow, this is massive. I respect Telegram for not giving away their user's privacy.

I agree. It will be interesting to see how Russia deals with this. Will they give in or continue to block a large portion of the internet. Time will tell!

Well, I guess they will realize that they’re not able to control the Telegram communication and eventually lift the bans.

OVH has probably hundreds of /16s, but they blocked exactly the one with both of my dedis, and none of any other OVH subnets. :D
