Wholly recommend @eva2000's centminmod
www.centminmod.com
i am bit of a noob and command line stuff freezes my brain
tried and failed with centminmod more then once
does this guide still work? @eva2000
Maybe VPS is not for you...
Honestly, I just download latest.tar.gz and follow the instructions.
But let's step back...do you have a server running with a web server (apache, nginx, etc.) and MySQL? That's probably a bit more work to get going (if you don't know how) than just installing WP.
Just go for one-click installers (Bitnami) version on DigitalOcean or AWS or any other. But I would go with centminmod or self-installation for clean and simple way.
A bit dated; but some people I know prefer easyengine.io for simplicity: https://easyengine.io/
wp-cli?
http://wp-cli.org/
thank you all
Maybe give VestaCP a shot... the latest version now support Softaculous
I used Easy Engine....was dead simple....
DOCKER CONTAINER!
On digitalocean you can install wordpress on a vps with only a click.
But, getting a unmanaged vps without knowing to manage it one day can cost you alot time, money and nervs. Stay in managed hosting or get a managed vps.
Then best way is install virtualbox or vmware on local computer and setup test OSes debian/ubuntu or centos 7 and play with each and try all above mentioned solutions on test local guest servers and learn the ropes. Then pick the best solution that you're comfortable with. Virtualbox is where all my testing and learning starts off with before I move to test VPS then live VPS/servers https://community.centminmod.com/threads/guide-to-learning-more-about-centmin-mod.10838/
if you had issues with install, just ask on official community forums too https://community.centminmod.com/
old as no longer need ISO mounting as Vultr has native CentOS OS now
