Looking for dedicated hardware to host gaming servers on the west coast.

Details:

CPU: Prefer higher clock rates over more cores

RAM: Minimum 16 GB (DDR3+ preferred)

Storage: 100GB+ (SSD preferred)

Budget: $30-60/month

Need to be able to do speed tests to verify latency. Seattle/Portland area is preferred.

What sort of gaming servers, TCP or UDP? Is DDoS protection required?

  • Minecraft, Space Engineers, Factorio, etc. Usually rotate between similar games. DDoS protection is not required.

We have a Seattle location (http://lg.sea.spartanhost.net) which includes 20Gb/s TCP DDoS protection so that would be great for Minecraft.

We could do an E3-1230v2, 16gb RAM, 256gb Samsung 850 Pro for $55/m or $140 per quarter or an E3-1270v2 for $60/m or $150 per quarter.

We also have an E3-1270v6 becoming available if that interests you to get very high clock speeds.

  • What would be the quarterly price for the E3-1270v6 in the same configuration? Also, how much would bumping the RAM up closer to 24/32GB be on the first two configurations?

  • Drop @qps a line, maybe they can put together a custom quote for an E3 in LAX at the upper end of your budget.

E3-1270v6, 16gb RAM, 256gb Samsung 850 Pro for $99 per month or $270 per quarter.

    $8/m for 24gb and $15/m for 32gb on the E3v2 configs.
