Any providers in https://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/133831/2017-provider-of-the-year/ with high mention rate is good

  • I would first question you whether or not you are up to the task of monitoring and handling your own system administration tasks. If you're not used to it, it's definitely a whole different world many shared providers automatically update and patch for WordPress issues. If you're not willing to, or unfamiliar with this process, you might find your entire VPS completely taken over and then turned off by your provider.

Are you looking for a managed, or an unmanaged VPS?

Damn this collective short-term memory. Last year vortexnode was #8 in the best provider poll. Wouldn't touch them with @nekki's dick this year though.

  • looking for unmanaged VPS @WSS , would you suggest.. I see your comment in max post. you are kind of aged [experienced ] in LET talk..!

  • @rahul_r: What sort of specifications are you looking for? Space/RAM/etc? How many sites hosted? Will you be hosting your own DNS/etc as well? Are you familiar with doing so? Etc..

  • Looking for 2 VPS each could handle 4 sites .Space could vary between 2 To 5GB per sites [current consumption is 2GB]. Ram 1 GB would be enough bandwidth 30GB per/site. For DNS would rely on the provider + free cpanel alternative.

    That all.

Do you want to only maintain the userland (generally Linux only), or userland AND kernel?

  • If you want the least maintenance, I'd suggest OpenVZ, even though it's based on an old kernel. The host will not keep your instance safe, but will generally do their best to keep the node safe. With a KVM, you're more on your own. OpenVZ are cheaper, and often more oversold.

    Now, what location?

  • want to manage only userland .

    Now, location?

  • USA or Europe

  • Well, if you want cheap, and will not be using the CPU hard often, BandwagonHost has some hard-to-beat deals, @komputerking has several options, @VirMach is a commonly used US host with multiple locations, @KuJoe has great pricing at SecureDragon (believe he is almost all KVM now), and, well, I'm already onto KVMs because I don't OVZ often anymore.

You might consider checking out LowEndStock - but the above are providers I have all used. Keep in mind that any VPS that says "NAT" will not easily be used for web hosting on IPv4, so you will possibly wish to avoid those.

  • Thanks for your time and advice..

Wish you a Happy New Year 2018 ..!

  • I forgot to answer your initial question. Dedicenter, I would not recommend. Their support is slow, they offer OVZ - https://www.dedicenter.com/cart.php?gid=13 - but no, I would not suggest them.

Ok.. Got it .. Thanks again..!

Another query . please do recommend for some good shared hosting provider just like VPS provider mentioned for further use.

    The securedragon :
    RAM1GB
    Storage 20GB
    Bandwidth 2000GBCPU
    Cores: 2IPv4: 1
    IPv6: /64ISO
    Price: 4.99 $ Monthly

    seem good deal for now..!

I would happily recommend @KuJoe's SecureDragon, @Virmach, @Cam, @Mikho for users who need little assistance. Keep in mind that KuJoe is generally KVM, which means you need to manage kernel- except for shared hosting. Virmach is OVZ (if you choose), and Gullo/MrVM are shared hosting.

    Slight correction, we're mostly OpenVZ.

I can offer you a KVM in Dallas if you want to go the ”manage it yourself” route.
If you need shared hosting I can do that in Phoenix or Amsterdam.

    KVM plans: https://my.freecpanelsharedhosting.com/cart.php?gid=14

  • Hi,

    1) Do you have annual option in dallas KVM . I see only monthly/Quarterly . (Please recommend a KVM VPS for wordpress )
    2) Your shared hosting option say
10240 MB = cPanel Amsterdam, NL - 10G Special or cPanel Phoenix, USA - 10GB Special
    Bandwidth: 102400 MB / month
    unlimited options
    Disk

    Does it include:
    a) free SSL certificate
    b) unlimited domain hosting
    c) would i be good for word press hosting.

You can run a Wordpress site on 256mb and below, depends on how much you would like to optimize it.
Without knowing how many plugins you expect to install, which theme that yoj will use, etc....
I would suggest 1GB ram or higher.

    Regarding shared hosting:
    A) free ssl, either lets encrypt or cPanel auto-ssl.
    B) yes.
    C) there are many wordpress sites installed on both locations.
    D) both Phoneix and Amsterdam servers have good uptime according to the monitoring.

Back up again. Sorry for the trouble. Credit on the account was never applied to the invoice, making it overdue and therefor suspended.

    All good now.

    @mikho

But, how come. All your website were down http://www.mrvm.net/ & freecpanelsharedhosting.com.

  • If you have not purchased it yet, I would suggest you to get a cPanel Managed VPS. However, pricing and specifications are depends upon how many websites you want to host / migrate to server.

  • Thanks for suggestion.

But have already purchased a hosting plan from @mikho. He being as an old member saw as a reliable provider.

Website, cPanel and client area is hosted with the same provider, different locations but all, unfortunaltly, affected by this situation.

I will have a talk with that provider about the credit not being applied to my invoice. There is a first for everything.
    Thank you for the notification.
