Hourly Billing GPU VPS/RDP?

I need to run Scallion to calculate a single hash that takes too long on my laptop.

Comments

  • You can use AWS, GCP, or Azure which do hourly billing for GPU instances.

  • RISC architecture is gonna change everything.

    Yes.

  • https://paperspace.com/ is exactly what you need and works well.

.. isn't it run by those Liquid Sky scamming shits, though?

I don't think so... they're in the same market though. I looked at Liquidsky initially but no Linux access client, so went with Paperspace for my needs.

  • I read somewhere that PS ended up with the leftover hardware from LS, but I'm pretty sure that came from here, so it's probably unreliable. The true LET option, however, is yet another PS.

  • I don't believe Paperspace to be leftover hardware from LiquidSky. The way the two are ran are completely different two. While I've had crap luck at LiquidSky, Paperspace has been fantastic to me during my time of usage. So I'd err on the side of no, mostly due to locations and other factors though.

  • LiquidSky uses IBM Bluemix/Softlayer Servers, so any IBM/Softlayer customer could get "leftover" hardware from them. But I don't think paperspace uses IBM/Softlayer.

Side note: holy crap there are a lot of "cloud gaming" providers popping up lately. My favorite is this one which is apparently going to rely on cryptocurrency bullshit where you play games on the miner's GPUs or something.

On Topic: OVH has hourly billed cloud servers with GPUs. Either with a GTX 1070 or 1080 Ti. Note that you can't use the GPU for 3D accelerated stuff because there's no (fake) display attached. An OVH engineer told me they are working on a solution for that. But since you're most likely going to just need CUDA/OpenCL it should be fine.

    Vanity tor addresses are brilliant!
