Entirely plausible, given our size now, that things occur which I do not need to be aware of. This makes me wonder though, is there any check for the validity of such a thing with RIPE? I dunno, not my particular expertise.
Either way, I did reach out internally about this earlier today, just in case. Another LET member brought it to my attention.
Looks like all the legit DO RIPE stuff is managed by the 'digitalocean' maintainer and ORG-DOI2-RIPE org. Legit DO member listing

Yes. Valid company documents.
Your brand name is not protected and Moldova uses 'LLC'. Thus someone can create a "Digital Ocean LLC" in Moldova and obtain an ASN for it, this is absolutely not a RIPE thing to check as the company is valid.
You have to follow Moldovan laws to stop this; RIPE is not in any way the correct contact point. RIPE issues ASNs to any company with valid company documents regardless of name conflicts or otherwise; this is the problem of national law there, nothing else.
RIPE goes down until Israel and Iran. Not only EU. Moldova is inside the RIPE area.

Notably RIPE has no real ability to check company documents - it is next to impossible to even verify the existence of an LTD in Costa Rica or Panama; and entirely so in Belize or the Seychelles.
Ultimately this can end word against word, in which the neutrality of RIPE would probably mean either has to go to a Dutch court.
So there is no need to assume, for now, that the documents are real, but it is also not likely that either side can provide definitive proof of their rights to the name (an US trademark is basically worth shit in Moldova, if not less).
