How many people here use a VPN daily?

How many people here use a VPN daily?

YmpkerYmpker Member, Provider

I now use a VPN 24/7 on my phone to encrypt its network traffic and keep myself clean from malware sites/pop-ups. At my home pc/laptop I use it only occasionally to unblock content or do online shopping (although there are obviously some times where you are required to turn it off to order). When using it while online gaming it gets me a higher ping thus not an option :P

When do you use a VPN? And how frequent?

    Unless connecting to a remote resource, never use a VPN for web surfing or online purchases. I'm sure this would be different for those countries whose government blocks content and/or monitors it's citizens. My government has no reason to monitor me, I pay my taxes, and don't speed when I drive ;)

    To each their own!

    I almost never use a VPN now except for when there are problems with my home ISP or traveling.

    Ahhh yes, that too! Airports have the worst performance, and Comcast SUCKS! I always feel like airports connectivity/wifi is the LAST thing their concerned about, behind keeping the bathrooms clean.

    @oneilonline

    Visit YYZ/Pearson Int'll Airport (aka Toronto's international airport) and enjoy the thorough performance of the mind blowing Internet speeds bestowed unto you by the gods at American Express. Hint: It's only a mbit or two if you're lucky.

    But yeah, I use a VPN on public WiFi, and have a few backup VPN methods to get over network blocks (e.g. OpenVPN thru SSH tunnel on the web port).

    Benchmark: wget https://s.flamz.pw/dl/bench.sh && bash bench.sh

  • Call to American FBI or Russian FSB and ask.They know much better, even what sites visited.

  • Not daily, but due to Australian Censorship laws i am a regular user

  • ...only in China... Never had a need to use in other countries.

  • On my laptop, I always have specific traffic running through my x509-authenticated stunnel to my VPS. On my home line, nope.

    Tons of websites are censored and blocked in Russia, also everything you visit is tracked, and from the next year will be even recorded and stored for up to 6 months. So I always browse via a VPN that I set up through my own VPS or dedi (never using a VPN service).

  • All of my four VPS' are running VPN software in case I need to use one, but usually I'm using one on the mobile when using a public WiFi, but also via 4G or at-work WiFi when I need to use webservices containing sensitive information. When I'm in Germany, sometimes also use it for getting actually better latencies lol, peering of Aorta network is horrible, thus to some services, latencies are better with VPN.

  • i just use vpn for... u know... ..to test website auto language detector.

    "1-YEAR PLAN $5.75 per month"
    Really, $12/month paying monthly or almost $6/month on yearly? Why would I?
    As proven time and time again, these specialized services offer massively lesser value than a generic VPS would. Heck, their monthly plan is even more expensive than my dedi.
    I can get two or three OVH VPS-SSD for the same price and set up all the VPN I could possibly want. Also not limited by the software used or the amount of concurrent connections.
    And can use the same VPSes for tons of other stuff, such as mail, DNS and web servers.

    Not to mention you cannot trust any VPN provider not to actually spy on you and log everything.

    Sure you have some points. I paid 75$/2 years I think.. For one vpn providers offer you various locations to choose from, anonymity to the extent of shared ips and some nice extra features like e.g. nords Cyber Protection which you can achieve yourself with the likes of a logless DNS.

    If you need hard anonymity, there is Tor, which is also free. As for simply not being spied on by your service provider, getting a generic server box at a well-known large-scale company should be enough. Even better if it's a dedi, not VPS.

  • I got a lifetime Purevpn through Stacksocial a couple of years ago for daily use.

    I don't need it since data roaming are free inside Europe and you won't need to be connected to a public hotspot anymore.
