Paperspace Pricing Changes: Effective October 12, 2017

Original post: https://paperspace.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002005493

Why are prices changing?

Paperspace has come a long way since the launch of our basic virtual machines. Offering hourly pricing has been more successful than we could have imagined, and we've found that users appreciate a pay-as-you-go model.

In response to that, we've lowered the hourly rate of some of our VDI instances to make them more accessible to everyone, and have increased price of monthly machines.

We also recently dropped the hourly rate of the GPU+ machines, one of our most popular instances. We'd like to be as transparent as possible, and as Paperspace grows we hope to bring you the best virtual computing experience.

When are prices changing?

On October 12, any new Paperspace machine created will follow the new pricing model.

What happens to my existing machines?

Any existing machine created before October 12th will be grandfathered in with Paperspace's existing pricing for the life of the machine.

The prices of all add-ons and integrations listed below will change, regardless of when they were added or created.

Never heard of them, but spotted a spelling error on their site in 30 seconds.

  • Oh good, they haven't changed the prices of the dedicated GPU VMs so I can keep on having Torch learn how to distinguish the categories in my porn collection at the same old price.

    Tell me more!

  • Imagine if your computer, every time you watched porn on it, it also wanted to join in...

They are used heavily by Machine Learning enthusiast/students to offload batches of training because AWS is too expensive, and you get 2 the performance for 1/3 of the price.

They also have a bunch of gamers using their VPS for gaming, and a few using them for adobe photoshop products.

I tried using them for gaming but kept finding my VM running after I had shut it down. Since it's like 45 cents an hour, and I wouldn't find it the next day, it ended up costing me more to run the VM overnight with no one playing with it than I actually spent on gaming.

Good concept if you're okay with paying for a VM to run when you're not using it, and you're comfortable with your Steam/Blizzard/Origin/GOG/whatever account being active on a Windows VM connected to the public internet.

or rendering a project in Premiere or After Effects, seems to work better than the GeForce 970M in my laptop

  • liquidsky would be a great alternative and cheaper :)

    Still shit, unusable.

They also change the priority, if you paid for Credits, you get moved to "Free Tier".

People who pay monthly have priority over the "Free Tier".

You still paid but they seem not to care, every time I try to launch a fucking instance, no resources available...

Better put your Money into a GPU instead of that shit, it will be always available.
