It is an exciting deal, I have other plans at this moment and just ordered one and another in the works.

Perhaps next time? This dedi deal thread came at the wrong time, for me that is.

If you store even 10TB on Google or Amazon and they are in big files, they will for sure look into your shit.

@Nekki said: If you want to trust the likes of Google with your copyrighted material that's your call, but you're a braver man than me.

I'm also not certain these services scale well - I wouldn't want to be serving 10-20 streams out of these cloud services simultaneously. Have you had any experience of that?

Well, I'm pretty sure myself that Google Drive is safe, encrypted and private, unless you distribute the files to others. It's perfectly fine and safe to use it for private storage and private use (only).

My google drive is 10+ Tb https://cdn.pbrd.co/images/GEqE2fxz.png and I do have a lot of media there. However, I do not share with others and use it for private usage only (which is actually legal here where Iive: http://www.silicon.co.uk/workspace/file-sharing-portugal-illegal-download-94505?inf_by=59875d29681db8ce5c8b49bc ).

Nevertheless, 10 streams will probably hit the limit on google drive, so it might not be useable (but backblaze is fine). It all depends, if you have 8 streams on your home, it's not sharing... but if you have several people in different locations...

10 to 20 streams is perfectly fine on backblaze. I transfer 32 to 64 simultaneous files at one go. https://www.backblaze.com/speedtest/

But like I said, use for private use only... or via a temporary proxy / router server.

I guess, I have offline backups at home for that though.

Rhys said: I've done 8~ high bitrate 1080p-4k streams out of acd no issue at one time but even that is pushing it. Everything I store is encrypted either way but it's just some debian images of course.

I've heard a few horror stories about Amazon allegedly booting people who hammer the network too much. You must be pushing close to 150Mbps put with 8 streams though, right?

Indeed there were a lot of horror stories before but most bans on acd come from hammering the api too hard. When there's 8 streams on the go it's around 120-130~Mbps pulling from amazon after the initial plex transcode (if there is one) buffer.

Not sure what you need, but you can use a linux server together with rclone.org to upload / download media from any supported storage as requested, or you can mount one of those storage systems via fuse (slower with a lot of small files, but ok with large files).

You will probably need to code whatever functionality you need, this is only for the storage part.

    https://rclone.org/install/
    https://rclone.org/commands/rclone_mount/
    or: https://github.com/astrada/google-drive-ocamlfuse
