Some hardware recommendation to build few nodes
Hi Guys,
I was wondering what is your opinion on the brands and hardware models to build few 1U nodes.
What I need is
Supermicro 1u Chassis 2 or 4 HDD slots
Supermicro Motherboard
E3 v5 1230 or higher?
32GB or 64GB RAM
2 x 1TB SSD drives
What Motherboard, RAM, CPU, SSD etc. models have you used and recommend to use?
Cheers

Maybe you can ask your Datacenter if they can help you. They often get discounts. And the difference between brands today is not that huge.
Might as well get an E3v6 instead of a v5 at this point.
We suggest you to go this
E3 v5 1230
32GB Ram
4 x 1TB HDD
E3 v5/v6 became now actually useful with 64GB RAM limit instead of 32GB.
Would personally not buy as 1U is too much for a single CPU, but they are overall not bad.
Guys any exact models do you have in mind? For compatibility or etc?
Thanks
What you doing with them?
E3-1245v6 or E3-1270v6
I would do the following setup:
Hope this works for you!
Read the post carefully please
I don't know what you mean, but my response has been the most specific for now...
Good luck with those 1 GB SSDs @gleert...
Thanks, I have updated it to 1TB
Thank you gleert. Best response so far!
Will be used for VMs
