IPv4 sure, and IPv6 can be requested and its raid 0

  • Rocketrix said: raid 0

Why would you use RAID 0 in a VPS Hypervisor?

  • raid 0? too risky I think.

Don´t forget the time that it takes to restore the backups. Sounds like a lot of downtime.

That said i must think about a song named downtown and hear now the hole time downtime when they say downtown.

How do I specify the location?

  • @niels said:
How do I specify the location?

When you order the VPS there is a location drop down

  • Dem rules:

Please be informative in your offers. Please list out basic specifications (amount of memory, storage space, monthly data/bandwidth and port speed), virtualization method (Xen, OpenVZ, KVM, etc), data center location and a test IP would be ideal.

  • Rocketrix said: Thats why we have a 6 hours Backup system

6 hours can still be a lot of data to lose.
If a disk fails you're going to have many hours of downtime, lots of work to do, and dataloss.

If you did raid 10 you can handle losing a disk, two if you're lucky. Then you just pop in a new drive, no downtime, no dataloss.

Are we really going to accept offers here of a provider that wonders why raid0 is bad for a proposed uptime of 99.95%? I've restored backups of only ~ 1TB and it took many hours, not to mention rebuilding the software setup on the host node. @Rocketrix you still haven't answered how many disks are in raid 0, the more drives you have in raid 0 the higher the chance murphy will strike.

We have two disks per node, And all of our servers other than this offer is running on raid 1, We are trying to offer a low priced service at this offer, and we didnt hide that we are running on raid 0, raid 0 isnt illegal to be shame from?

Are you running nvme's on your other nodes? Not sure how you can reach the IO needs for the density you need to pack people on these servers with only raid1 to make a profit.

The question was, how can you offer 99.95% availability on a node running raid0?

    RAID 0

Atleast they're honest... props for that, I guess, but you really shouldn't be running RAID0.

If you have one drive fail you will have to restore all customers backups to another node, restoring those backups takes time.

  • How about you reconfigure your nodes for Raid 10 and re-launch your company at a later date?
