Vultr uk ip blocked on bbc iplayer ?

d1v1ned1v1ne Member

Hi,

Tried yesterday to use few vps installs on vultr in london DC with squid and tinyproxy, but unsuccessful. BBC page shows "not in uk". Does anyone uses vultr for bbc iplayer access and that is working ? Maybe vultr ip ranges are banned ? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx

  • I'm not sure, but you might have to use residential IP, rather than datacenter ones. So that's not only Vultr thing.

Wait until the records get updated. It's a cat and mouse game.

Never heard BBC iPlayer is going to cut down VPNs yet...

  • Likely caused by them using ARIN space in the UK.

    +1

Check your IP. The last time I got a JP VPS from Vultr, my IP was geolocated in NJ, US

Plenty of this on Google. They pay money for licenses, the license covers them to provide this content to UK subscribers only . The more content owners will enforce it, the more BBC and others, like Netflix, will have to step up their game to comply.

    It didn't block mine

Yet. General tendency is towards limiting access from hosting ranges.
