This is the feedback of the KVM free trial from @key900

Thought that a post is better than sending a message

Here's the specs

1024MB Dedicated RAM

1 vCPU
15GB HDD space
1x SnapShot Backup Services
2TB/Month @ 1 Gbps burstable
1x IPv4
Free 10 Minutes Server Monitoring + Blacklist (Email and SMS alert)
Free SMS Unpaid invoice Alert
KVM/Promox

So I run the bench.

CPU model : Common KVM processor

Number of cores : 1 CPU frequency : 3192.746 MHz
Total size of Disk : 15.0 GB (2.7 GB Used) Total amount of Mem : 1000 MB (866 MB Used)
Total amount of Swap : 0 MB (0 MB Used) System uptime : 0 days, 0 hour 27 min
Load average : 1.10, 0.80, 0.40 OS : Debian GNU/Linux 8

Arch : x86_64 (64 Bit) Kernel : 3.16.0-4-amd64

I/O speed(1st run) : 647 MB/s
I/O speed(2nd run) : 783 MB/s
I/O speed(3rd run) : 741 MB/s

Average I/O speed : 723.7 MB/s

Node Name IPv4 address Download Speed
CacheFly 205.234.175.175 89.3MB/s

IO should be higher because i am installing LNMP right now using screen.

Unfortunately the route to Mainland China is not good,
so it will not be used to proxy server.

I had a LETbox VPS in Dallas for 2 months or so and it performed great and had good uptime. Support added a custom ISO for me and the experience was good along with great sale prices on KVM.

You didn't say how you came to those numbers. My suspicion is that you're seeing the effect of cache rather than actual IO. For example, if you read the same large file three times and average them, it's a bogus number because the first one was from the disk, the other two were likely from memory due to cache.

If you have 15GB of RAM and 2.7GB used, you have about 12GB of filesystem cache.

CN2 is good connecting to China. Maybe you can find one IDC connecting with CN2 line.

Can please submit ticket so we can help you better? If there is issue with IPv6 and network we can fix it as well as the rebooting i don't see this node rebooted since 10:13:04 up 88 days, 22:59, 2 users, load average: 2.57, 1.99, 1.89 80+ days for kernel upgrade.

  • Thanks for your reply! Your network use SLAAC for IPv6 addressing ,it's kind of weird.

We was having issue with IPV6 that's right when Datacenter give us wrong block and this should be fixed since we got new one.
