  • A lot of people use 443, I use a random port, haven't seen any problem.

Still, if you push 10MB/s on a DNS port it is going to look fishy.

  • Just get an RDP / VNC remote access on a VPS and be done with any problems. You can actually leave open your work and resume it whenever you want.

You really gotta be a high-ranked party official anyways to pull 10 MB/s across the GFW.

Get an alright LAX VPS (Bandwagonhost is your friend), put Shadowsocks on port 443 and enjoy life (in 240p).

Or just connect via a local server with better/guaranteed uplink, but that's going to cost you.

  • You might have good luck with 888.

  • based on my experience, all the ports are sort of the same thing.
you main concern should be finding a good network to your ISP

used 444 and others, port not an issue. Use shadowsocks for the phone through LA VPS.
I have shadowsocks on a laptop but found softether to give more bandwidth most of the time, not sure why.
If you have a 4G-ready mobile router you can get a one-month China Unicom sim with 10G of data, or at least that's what I got in APR 2017. That was about 120RMB.

    Use either 328, 889, or 168

    That is their lucky numbers.

any port works fine, so far.

    and, welcome to china .

Any port would work well. The traffic amount of a personal proxy won't get the IP blocked. To choose a vps with a good connection to China is more important.
