Remote desktop and linux

I recently got a Windows 2008 server for the first time and am astounded by the way Windows Remote Desktop works so well. I have tried XRDP with Ubuntu and Mint, but they do not work as well. Does anyone know of a better remote desktop program for linux besides VNC?

Perhaps I misunderstood.. xrdp allows you to use rdp protocol to connect TO a linux desktop... so I assume he wants to remote desktop to the linux server. If so x2goserver (does not use rdp protocol however) is a great option. (Rdesktop is just an rdp client for linux)

@wilbo - can you clarify what you are trying to accomplish here?

I want to connect from my windows laptop to a linux VPS with a desktop interface like RDP or VNC.

VNC works great if you don't need sound..

Also I just found chrome remote desktop, have not had a chance to try it yet but looks interesting
