Share your test files

Hey,

I do not really know what category would fit most.
But what I am basically asking for is that you may share your test files with me.
What information I will need:

-the link (size 100/1000mb would be great)

-uplink (also shared or not)

-location

-provider

Why do I ask for that?

Well. I want to see which provider can provide me with the fastest connection.
My ISP is not that good tbh (living in Germany). I am having 100 down / 5-6 up. Until now all server I tested were limited to 2000KB/s due to the ISP. I had one provider with fullspeed.
It is annoying to just download with only 20% of my connection especially when I have to download backups or so from my few servers.

    Are you using Kabel Deutschland/Vodafone by any chance?
    Try one of the files here:
    https://lg.combahton.net/
    It's from Kms-hosting, they advice peering with your isp. Also you should try one around noon and one in the late evening, results could be different.

    The problem is shared medium in some areas. (I have 22 available in total at unitymedia) and 5 upstream channels)
    I can advice you to read this: http://www.glasfaser-pesch.de/besserweil.html

    Browsers use only 1 tcp thread to download. Steam and speedtests use multiple tcp thread and so you can with jdownloader. This should help you to get full speed on unitymedia/kabel bw/vodafone cable.

    Greetings Kevin

  • I only get 20-30 out of my 100 mbit/s but that is because I am using some Devolo Dlan adapter as the router is situated in the basement where as my room/office is in 1st floor :/ Wifi reaches just about the same ~20-25 mbits with 50ms ping instead of 20ms

    I think we should have a sticky thread with looking glass of all providers.

  • Btw I do have native ipv4+6 so real Dual Stack not that joke called Dual Stack lite (carrier grade ipv4). That caused several problems in the past.

    @GalaxyHostPlus thanks. Capped at ~2MB/s.

    @lion yes I do haha. But that is only because I am living in some village with 6000 people and other ISP can only deliver DSL 6k-16k. I could get ~3MB/s+

    @Kevinjoa yeah I know about this and unfortunately I do not have any chance of getting Deutsche Glasfaser. Sure there may be ways to boost up the download using multiple connections.

    @Ympker I use tp-link dlan therefore wifi and lan as well. But none of these are by any mean my problem. I can transfer a file with around 600-700mbit/s to a network ssd. My ping is around 16-18 to a near located server. In most online games I have 20-24.

    Thanked by 1Ympker
  • @saf31 that would be cool indeed. But it could also be a bit problematic since you would have all lg in one place it would be easier for some jerks to try some ddos attacks

    @Maher unfortunately your site is not reachable

    @dedicados that sounds cool :)

    Yeah in the ground floor I have better performance, too. However two power cycles in the house sorta kill it for me :/

    Well I didn't say use fibre. I just wanted to show you how the technology works with this article (shared medium cables). You can also try to call out your provider for doing a splitt of theirs cable network is there is much overload at any given day time (if they agree at some point this usually takes 3-12months if not prioritized). It is definitely not normal that u only get about 2mb/s. At my home with cable internet I have good speeds in the morning when no one uses their internet. In the evening it is bit worse and some downstream channels are overloaded so I use multithreaded tcp downloads to get the full speed.

    Greetings Kevin
