I like Observium, have all my machines monitored with it.
LibreNMS has worked for me quite some time. If you monitor a bunch of stuff, use a remote SQL DB to minimize the CPU load if you wanna run it on something with 1 CPU
How do you like the alerting built into it?
I have all my servers on a dashboard of monitors. I have trained a cat to look for changes in colors and alert me by meowing for food. So far it has worked purrfectly.
Munin. You can also check out it's alternatives here and comparison here.

+1 munin
Librenms: Really works great, is amazing, and has auto updates. http://www.librenms.org/
Observium: The fore-father of Librenms, but has less functionality and is more shiny. http://www.observium.org/
Munin, never used. Heard good things about it.
Highly lightweight, without back in time monitoring: https://github.com/Munroenet/ServerStatus
The original that the above was made on: https://github.com/mojeda/ServerStatus
NixStats: https://nixstats.com/login never used, but it is great. All the above are self hosted, while this one isn't.
Using NixStats for server monitoring, combined with IPMonitr's blacklist check. Both work great

Try pingthat.com.. good for ping monitor
What guides you use for setting up the devices for observium?
netdata for realtime monitoring: https://my-netdata.io/
How about Pandora FMS : https://pandorafms.com/
You've walked into the wrong bar.
Hahaha: Why?
This is "Low End Talk", not "Superfluously Expensive Tat"
10s Port Checks 10x + 4 Contacts.

VultrMonitr.
Well, currently we set the IP Limit to 2 for each Account, to prevent abuse.
But sure, drop me your Username and I can upgrade your Account.
it is ok, i just wanted to confirm if this limit was because beta, or will be a normal feature, thanks
I have it open on my other monitor all the time so I never setup the email notifications.
I'll try and find the guide I used, if not then I'll make one
Go with uptime robot, totally free and with api.
Thank You!
We have been using HetrixTools and it's been awesome. Basic server analysis along uptime monitoring and IP blacklist monitoring. If you need a more detailed analysis, check out NewRelic.
Their pricing page starts with "what size of AWS instance will you be spinning up to contain your New Relic monitor". GTFO.
Self-hosted alternatives not already mentioned also include Zabbix and Nagios. Of the two, Zabbix is well-respected and Nagios used to be (ok, ok, lots of people still use it but it feels 1990s Big Brother to me).
For non-self-hosted, there's also community favorite @NodePing
Look no further than Zabbix. Does everything and just works.
