Any recommended Knowledge Base software?
Hi,
I'm trying to find a good software (free if possible) to make a knowledge base.
The features that we need are:
- Web administration and web access to documents.
- Ability to create users and groups of users.
- Private views of documents.
- Ability to assign documents visibility to users or groups.
- If possible, easy to copy and paste text and images from a OpenOffice document or screenshots.
Could anyone recommend me any software for this?
Thanks!

Mediawiki.
DokuWiki
Thanks for the suggestions. I will take a look at them.
Maybe it would be also possible to do with Wordpress using any plugin?
WP has a few KB themes. I know there's a portal plugin where you can assign people to groups to access certain info but that's once the user logs in via wp-login.php which I have a setup for my sales people with their individual commission rates
Thanks for reminding me. https://lowendtalk.com/wiki
Confluence. $10 paid one time for a on premise (self hosted) license.
...for up to 10 users. Once you hit that 11th user, it jumps to $1400.

It is very nice software, though.
I said Mediawiki kind of flippantly but it does make a very nice KB. I find it's more useful than a dedicated KB app. Dedicated apps force you into their layout, while with MediaWiki you can do anything.
Another option is Read the Docs:

Docs (irony!) on Read the Docs: https://docs.readthedocs.io/
@raindog308, I completely forgot to mention that. Good catch!
MediaWiki is probably the way to go (cuz plugins and adoption) but I dislike Wikipedia formatting and dread MediaWiki would annoy a hell out of me, if it is basically the same engine.
https://themeforest.net/item/knowhow-a-knowledge-base-wordpress-theme/2813111?s_rank=3 is the one I bought. It works well enough, especially after removing various CSS formatting junk that, for example, turns " " into “ ”.
