go directly with aliyun (intl.aliyun.com)
Is Aliyun's peering any good? Particularly interested in getting back to Level3 in the US and local providers in Mainland China.
https://lowendbox.com/blog/stack-network-1gb-kvm-vps-in-la-and-hong-kong-39mo-dedicated-server-in-china/ (the dedicated server one)
it... works. Most of the time.
They get some preferential treatment but no magic either, i have all locations on the LG for testing:

get Aliyun, paying yearly they do have "free data".
AND YES, Aliyun HKB peers super good (dedicated 30Mbps worldwide) to mainland China, and NO need for ICP
Why do some Asians like emails or webs with numbers?
Sorry for derailing
Lucky numbers and similar, they vary throughout the region. China has eg. thing for 7, while in the arab world lower -> better.
Sounds nice @tamicrealo, though I wasn't planning to do anything on port 80 or 443. How is the peering to other surrounding countries? I assume it'd be good to PLDT and a few other providers.

I suppose it is similar in Chinese.
Latency should be similar to any other virtual server you can obtain in HK, CN etc.
CN zone obviously uses CT/CU transit you can expect congestion to a many places. HK would probably be best, and suitable for surrounding countries like Japan, Taiwan, Singapore etc (I remember there was PCCW transit).
Use William's looking glass to check it out.

Because Asians are good with numbers & Maths ?
recomend to use Aliyun
Aliyun if you really need it in China. Otherwise, I'd recommend going into HK instead as it'd be simpler to get a server there.
