Any LowEndSpirit $4 VPS user?

edited April 2013 in General

Hi

I was able to setup almost everything SSH, Server, Port but thing is that according to their offer, they allow us to host website on port. I requested help in their forum but so far now response 14+ views so far.

Can you guys can tell me how to point my domain to my vps with different port than 80? Yes I do have set my custom port in Apache and its working fine
http://ip:myport/

Just need help in pointing domain to it. I think it should be provider's duty to point domain in node with system he has set.
He has clearly written in
http://lowendspirit.com/help.html

Should I open ticket? He clearly wrote if I open ticket I will be charge for almost same price of VPS!!! but yes I have never show a topic for this in forum and none replied to my topic too.

Also can any one tell me how to use IPV6, assigned to my VPS?

No offense to any one or provider, it's just that I am not able to fix the things.

Regards

  • I'm slightly confused. Do you want your provider to redirect from port 2001 -> 80?

    From http://www.lowendspirit.com/help.html

"We would then set up your reverse proxy connection for you. You then set up your website or service as you normally would."

Also, you're not supposed to post ip public.

No Check the help url. He wrote in the page that he use some kinda proxy to forward my port to 80 so end user will be able to see the website. I am not tech guy in such things but please you check it out.

@bobby said: We would then set up your reverse proxy

    Ie: submit a ticket

  • rrrrrr Member

@bobby thanks I have removed the ip and port both. So you think that I should open ticket there?

  • What made you order from these guys? Were you drunk or something? :P

    @rrr yes

  • So yes, you will need to open a ticket.

It looks to me like you point your A record at their IP and then they do internal routing to make sure that test.example.com leads to your VPS.

@bridhtbull I don't drink. Do you know what offer it was? Have you checked http://lowendspirit.com?

Its strictly no support offer. and $4 per year you really can't get support isn't it?

  • rrrrrr Member

@bcarlsonmedia It's all about port buddy. Port is custom so just pointing DNS will not work and i really cant say all people that please also use this port with domain.

  • But they have an internal proxy system that makes it so that test.example.com leads to your internal ip. They have to setup the routing, it's not as simple as pointing your A record. I get that.

Internet user => haproxy on VPS node => your VPS => your service => Internet user.

I'm just confused as to why? I guess to save a couple bucks.

That just seems to me to be another potential point of failure.

  • rrrrrr Member

@bcarlsonmedia Its just all about Low End Spirit for me. I already have bigger LEBs, I purchased this to just try a 64MB vps. Nothing else, There may be some other 64MB offers but I can get at cheap price here.

Nothing productive on this VPS, just trying and learning.

  • rrrrrr Member

@happel Already opened the ticket, hope things will go right!

  • @rrr I figured as much.

    Alright, well have fun!

  • rrrrrr Member

@bcarlsonmedia @happel @bobby @Brightbull Guys any idea about how to use IPV 6

  • rrrrrr Member

@bcarlsonmedia IPV6 is already assigned to my VPS, I just want to learn how to use them, access them via browser or SSH.

The URL you provide, has nothing how to use them but they have certification program.

  • They have a ipv4 to ipv6 tunnel that you can use to get your computer to be able to access ipv6 if you don't already have access to it, like me.

  • I have low-end-knowledge about this vps package, so I don't order it. You supposed to have the knowledge before order and use internal forum for support.

Reply made to ticket and forum post :)

  • Wow that seem to be easy. Thanks @rrr you open my eyes.

I usually check in on lowendspirit forum a couple of times a day and help out as much as possible since @AnthonySmith is a really nice guy and a excellent provider.

But I've been in Hamburg for the last couple of days and haven't had the chance to keep up from my cell.

My priorities have been drinking to much beer :)

I am a LowEndSpirit user. Bought the VPS 2/3 months ago and in the spirit of LET/LEB it's doing nothing.

  • @Radi said: it's doing nothing.

    Sad u_u

  • I think one of the users here has a website on the LowEndSpirit server which initially he was trying to use his own reverse proxy but somehow Anthony got it working for him by setting up an entry on the front end proxy to forward the traffic to the specific port.

NL location is rock solid (no downtime recorded since my signup), and just as good if not better than most ovz offers here. For VPN/IRC etc this is a steal.
