Windows can be run on 256MB RAM?
Btw its not advisable to give the ip for DRAC out!
+1 Not a good idea at all.
And @DanielM we have people running Windows on 128MB.
How? :L unless your using win 98 or somet?
Win 2003 does too I think in 128mb
I cant say for sure since i tend to avoid Windows at all costs, all i know is i can see people running Windows 2003 on Tiny (128MB) plans..
I use one of these as pretty much my only remaining LEB after the VMPort disappointment/OpenVZ hostage situation.
Its been completely solid.
I think the post just means Windows is available, you can run 2k3 web edition on 256 but I would not suggest running 2k8 on anything less than 768, or mayby 2k8 web on 512.
Will post some bench marks.
Also as a general tip, if your paying your host for Windows make sure its legal (SPLA etc.)
thanks for the heads up GetKVM_Ash
Ouch
Running unix bench now, anyone want anything else?
@GetKVM_Ash Not sure why that hurt?
VMPort and disappointment in one sentence, the wounds are still fresh dude.
On a side note, props to NECS as that's some sh*t hot I/O. What disks are you using, 10K SAS? And @AnthonySmith, is that with virtio drivers?
its ok, was not targeting your personally, rather the entity known as VMport that offered OpenVZ as a replacement for KVM.
Anyway sorry to derail, results will follow.
The disks are 6Gb/s SAS, RAID 10. The trick is setting up the LV as the default settings were about 30%+slower. However, as you know you cannot always guarantee the I/O on a shared environment...
@GetKVM_Ash yes virto.
Ant.
Jebus... this made me consider the quality of my own services
Not sure I have ever seen a 3000+ one.
I might try out your VPS service they seem extremely cheap
Anthony, what cpu do you use ATM?
What are the specs of the node?
@prometeus E3-1270
This VPS has:
I am not sure how to get the specific model in a KVM guest?
forgot this is a kvm offer :-)
Your E3-1270 are good as far as I've seen with my boxes.
Let's wait @necs to unveil the cpu mistery :-)
You cant without them adding certain flags to allow it to show
Hi all, info on systems:
