Recommended website monitoring scripts

As per the title, I'm looking for recommendations for a website monitoring script that I can run from a remote machine. I need to be able to:

  • monitor multiple individual URLS on multiple domains
  • monitor both via ping and keywords in code/on page
  • be able to modify the monitoring frequency per URL, with intervals of no less than 10 minutes
  • be able to trigger email alerts to multiple addresses when a page is shown as down
  • run on Debian/RHEL

A couple of caveats:

  • I can't use a hosted solution - this must be something I can install and run internally
  • I can't install anything on the servers being monitored

I've had a look at a few scripts, but trialling them all I can't really separate one from the other, so I'm looking for some recommendations in terms of reliablity/scalability etc. Cheers in advance for any opinions offered.
