SSD, RAID or Mixin?

Hello, everyone.

Running as a PaaS server, similar price, which is better?

  1. SAS(1.5k 600G*4) RAID10(BBU)
  2. SSD(480G*2) RAID1(BBU)
  3. SAS(1.5k 600G*2) RAID1(BBU) + SSD(480G, flashcache)

  • Which SAS and SSD are we talking about? There are a lot of differences in the models. By a 480G I assume it's Sandforce 2 based SSD though.

Well looks like option #1 has the highest capacity, should be a great setup. Like @concerto49 said models are important. My observation (I don't use SSD or SAS at this time) is that you'll find more trash SSD drives around than SAS because they're more popular and targeted for consumers, someone correct me if that's a wrong assumption (it's based in theory, I don't currently shop for either).
