We've recently ordered in a large number of servers with /24 IPv4 that we need to fill up, hence the crazy good deals this week.

The configurations are really SSD drives, configurations for most servers:

    • 4 x 960GB Samsung Pro NIB
    • LSI MegaRaid 9261-4i w/BBU
    • Hardware RAID 10

Here's a recent review verifying RAID 10 SSD speed:

  • Why is NY +$7? It's closest one to EU.

  • Is there any other server location able than USA ?

I just want to clarify that New York is DDoS Protected, and is free for KVM.

We have limited stock for New York OpenVZ at this time, and once again, it is DDoS Protected and more popular, hence the +$1 per month or +$7 per year price increase. I have temporarily removed this price increase after re-evaluating the resources we have left. We will have to once again increase the price due to limited availabily at this time in that location, for OpenVZ.

Please order soon - if it fills up we'll have to place it out of stock until we order more servers or put in price increase for OpenVZ in New York again.

We only offer USA for this deal. We have limited availability in EU, but not for this offer. Contact us for a custom quote.

  • Grabbed the 256MB 5$ plan.. The server itself is pretty good for the price. Just the uptime, support, stability of performance and remaining lifetime of VirMach is unknown. But we'll see..

We've already gotten approved for the IPs by the datacenters and it's justified. They are leased out - we do not get our blocks directly from ARIN. So if we did not get the IPs, they would just be unused by the datacenter. These are large nodes and we will actually be using all the IPs. We are offering the $3/yr option as a way to fill up the servers. The main reason we have a lot of IPv4 is our large dedicated proxy customer base.

We are technically losing money on that specific deal, but we will lose more money if servers are empty. Hope that explains the logic behind it.

We do have HTTPS SolusVM. However, it does not currently have an SSL certificate for that subdomain so it will not show a green bar. Just change the port to 5656 for SSL.

It should be $3. It's limit one per customer. Please contact us if you can't use the promo as there's probably a reason and we may be able to override it.

Great. Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Actually, I do have a question.

Is there any reason my CPU frequency is limited to 600 MHz?

  • Do you offer one free location move like some other providers?

  • VirMachVirMach Member, Patron Provider

    @htgy said:
Actually, I do have a question.

Is there any reason my CPU frequency is limited to 600 MHz?

Looking at the information posted, it looks like you have the Elite+ plan, correct?
Your plan is supposed to be 2 vCores @ 1GHz as published on our site.

600MHz is a weird number. I'm thinking you got put on an E5-2620 v3 (2.4GHz) node which is a multiple of 600MHz, but you should have 2 vCores @1.2GHz and not 600MHz, so definitely do make a ticket so we can take a look.

As to answer your question on why we limit CPU, we do it differently from other providers for a couple of reasons and we believe it works out better for everyone.

    • Overselling: many providers will give multiple full cores, shared, which may create a bad experience for everyone, especially during peak hours. We keep overselling to a minimum - that's why we're actually very popular with intensive tasks as customers know they can rely on always getting their exact portion of CPU.
    • Stability: when other providers oversell CPU by a lot, you will quickly get an abuse report if you use a lot of CPU or you will be affected by others utilizing a lot of CPU. When we limit CPU, we can allow people to burst more without an issue being caused and it helps us sell it in proportion to RAM, keeping it stable.
    • Support time: the less we oversell and the more we know how much CPU we've actually sold, and the more stable, the less support time this costs us managing abusers and the lower prices we can provider. This also means we can handle abuse better.
    • Fairness: we give how much CPU is fair for the specific plan, and don't just give a lot of CPU across all plans like some providers do. This way you get a specific amount for your needs and other customers who pay less can't just over-use their services which in turn causes there to be less CPU for larger plans since it's shared resources.

Sorry if that's an extremely long reply - I just wanted to fully answer your question.

movieman43 said: Do you offer one free location move like some other providers?

We do not have a set policy on this. We will definitely move you over if you want to permanently switch a location but if you're constantly switching locations, the only terms I can refer to is our possibly applicable $2 IP switch fee. This is to prevent abuse.

Sure, just send in a ticket for a location switch if that's your concern.

The only situations I can see where we will not provide the switch, is if (1) you get the IP blacklisted and want a switch as a result to change your IP, (2) you receive any abuse reports, (3) it's several switches, too often.

It was temporarily removed for the offer. We've received too many orders at this location and need to re-instate the fee for the DDoS protection.

We'll most likely add this option back with free protection if we can order in a new server for that location in the next few days, if more space opens up, or once the popularity on this offer dies down a little. We really want to keep this offer going while supplies last, so for the time being you can consider the offer 'out of stock' for that location. Sorry for the inconvenience.
