How can I run Android-x86 isos on windows server 08

GM2015GM2015 Member

So I've a windows server 08 r2 on vultr and want to test out hosting an android iso on it. So far, all booting effort has gone into kernel panic or the installer becoming unresponsive (1 out of about 12 tries, 11 tries kernel panic).

kernel panic - not syncing - attempted to kill init
...
reboot in 5 sec

I'm using their latest version:
http://www.android-x86.org/releases/releasenote-4-4-r3

I'm running latest virtualbox:
https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

I've read about this on the net and they are saying that virtualisation needs to be enabled on bios.

How would I do that when I never see bios settings on rebooting my vultr server?

Any other tips?

what is the error the kernel gives you?

  • Forget it - The Android-x86 images have no support for VMs - They barely have support for the very few suppoerted tablets.

The whole lot is Chinese to me.

I get the boot screen like on the first screen here:
    http://www.android-x86.org/documents/virtualboxhowto

Then select install to hard drive. It starts to decompress linux and arrived here OR once in a while goes to formatting. I've got to formatting twice and it froze on me.

  • Again, Android-x86 has no support for VMs.

I doubt that. I have mine works great on win 7.

For OP, I suggest Genymotion if you want to virtualize android on windows.
