Overall things seem good, this is the NL vps S . With the three year prepayment discount (30%)+ save40(40%) coupon this turns out to be an awesome deal in my opinion , making this a competing price with several providers here !

Their management panel is an absolute beauty with the options of ssh keys+ attaching ISOs. I was told by Marijn from their online chat that the cpu allotted can be used 24 hours straight without any issues, would be pretty awesome if thats true though I dont think anyone intends to use it that long but its good to know you won't be suspended out of the blue.

    Looks like crappy E5 cpu's

  • that I/O .Did you contact them regarding this?

Better to have a crappie dedicated cpu then something like waveride's "Resource limits:

    • You are expected to use less than 25% of your assigned CPU cores for 95% of the month, the left 5% can be used to burst."

Why is that a bad i/O? I've seen much worse. Plus it's more than sufficient for most needs.

It's terrible I/O not something i would expect from Leaseweb. and can you run an actual benchmark please?

    Serverbear/Unixbench for the Leaseweb 2GB is: 2361.7

It's not bad at all, really nice deal for $5.97/month imo and Leaseweb's network is great.

You should be getting around 75-90MB/sec in regards to I/O on your Leaseweb box - I've got 4 VPSes with them and have never gone below 75mb

I had a chat with them sometime back

Me: Can I myself mount an Custom ISO and load my OS from it ?

Amdur Hall: You can on a bare metal but not a VPS it is a KVM platform, however we don't provide KVM access to VPS

Is anyone running custom ISO OS install or Windows on their VPS offers ?

They let you use it 24/7. What did you expect for the price? Do you prefer multiple cores where you can only use a ridiculous bit of CPU time like with most low end providers here? They surely look better in your benchmark which has nothing to do with real-world applications.

    TarZZ92 said: It's terrible I/O

Do you really look at 50 MB/s on a shared, non-SSD environment as terrible? You should probably lower your expectations then. Again, specially considering the price for this product. And that's just a quick test which doesn't tell much anyway.

dd IO test results doesn't equal real world performance! Almost everyone on this forum seems to forget that.

  • @Nyr am sure they would because they offer such low performance per core. And to the second part yes. HDD's ain't as slow as you seem to make them be. Most offer 200MB+ these days

And? Do you think E5s have unlimited cores or something? Do you think they use them on 32GB RAM servers? Be optimistic and put a high end E5-2697 v3 as an example: that's just 14 cores (28 threads) per physical processor.

TarZZ92 said: And to the second part yes. HDD's ain't as slow as you seem to make them be.

HDDs are fine. You expecting 100s of MB/s from a SAN of SAS disks, is not very realistic at this price point.

TarZZ92 said: Most offer 200MB+ these days

This is the case just in this forum, where is nearly a requirement if don't want to be laughed at. Still, I prefer a secure (and very expensive) SAN which can cost more than all the equipment owned by many providers here. You should also consider how many of those crazy dd tests posted here are the result of very risky configurations just to look nice in a stupid benchmark.

  • Is it come with dns hosting?

  • raza19 said: They are pretty invasive about details of your company if you decide to tell them you are a company :)

Also if you're a person; the ask the same question in that scenario. Needless to say, the rating they asked in the same form got a single start out of five.

@raza19 the CPU's are not dedicated, everything is shared.

Shared yes but by dedicated I mean that the resource given does not have fine print attached. Correct me if I'm wrong I don't think they reboot or suspend your vps if you use the cpu you paid for.

  • I snagged one of their $4/mo deals in Washington DC (the only somewhat affordable deal I've seen in that location) and have been quite happy with it. I didn't get a ton of questions when I signed up, but they did call me to verify after the order. They also called just before the first invoice was generated to see how things were going.
